Period pains at 32 weeks- should I worry or not?

You'd think I would know, this is dc3.

Have been having period pains on and off for a couple of hours now. This is how labour with ds2 started but that was at 38 weeks so a little different. The pains are definitely not Brixton hicks. The baby is moving about fine.

I had a big poo just now and thought that might have been the cause but nope, they are still there.

I have had a fairly active day so far, would you be worried?

Yes I would be, this is how my last labour started but at 37 weeks. Really on the lookout now as I'm 30wks with no.2.

Can you get to hospital easily to get checked out? I've no idea but there might be something they could do to stop labour coming on...

Phone your gynae and watch for spotting.

Get checked right away, in case this is early labour. Fingers crossed for you that it isn't.

Could be early labour, could even be a urinary tract infection, call your midwife.

My second dd was born at 32 weeks after something pretty similar, just to reassure you she is fine and almost all babies born at 32 weeks are fine, just in case.

I was born at 33 weeks, 50 years ago, and bar a spell in an incubator, was fine.

Definitely get checked out but I used to get a couple of hours of period type pains every evening for several weeks in the run up to DS2's birth so it might not be imminent.

How are you OP?

Batman thanks for asking- sorry I didn't come back and update. I decided to wait until Sunday morning to see if they eased off overnight- they did. I've had a few twinges since but I just put it down to doing too much on Saturday, and wearing pre-preg knickers that were digging into my nethers!

Panic over thankfully. Ta everyone for your words of wisdom.

I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant but have had 'Braxton hicks' since 32 weeks. I don't believe they are Braxton's as they start as period pains then worsen to the point I have to breath through them and hen they just stop! They usually come every 5 mins and will last for hours then just wear off. But I am still going strong, can't believe I've made it this far to be honest. This is also dc3
