Right ladies... I need your advice. I'm 39+6 and want this baby to get moving. What works? Hot curries? Gin and Tonics? Doing the deed?

Being relaxed and ready works - I had a lovely back, neck and shoulder massage and went into labour gently from as soon as I got home.

Im probably wrong...but sex worked for me. Still had to be induced but it got things going!

Sex sex sex.... Really this is the only thing that works! The hormones released are like those used in inductions, dh needs to ejaculate too though, semen helps too, and the endorphins will get things going, that and lots of nipple tweaking!

God luck:)

Sex did nothing for me. It was relaxing that got me going. it was Saturday morning and I was looking forward to having a lovely lay in with DP, went into labour at 6.30. Still waiting for that lovely lay in. Wink

Seems like your best bet is to have sex then a lovely relaxing hot bath and a foot rub!

Clary sage oil in the bath worked for me. Champagne and fresh pineapple are also things I have seen recommended, likewise curry.

So maybe curry for supper, fresh pineapple for pudding, en a glass of champagne in a clary sage bath, and then drag your oh off to bed for rampant sex.

Oh - and having my nipples twiddled used to give me Braxton Hicks - so maybe incorporate a spot of that too.

Good luck!

Raspberry Leaf Tea (Neal's Yard sell it loose, apparently it's better than the teabags, but who knows).

Evening Primrose Oil contains a similar 'active ingredient' as sperm. It can be taken in pill form, inserted into the vagina (I modified a tampon applicator - I was desperate!), or even rubbed directly onto the cervix, if you can reach! I read this is not advised if you have placenta previa.

I also went for a lovely reflexology session, and she pressed a spot which is supposed to help get things going.

Thanks folks! Think DH is thrilled with the advice for sex and nipple tweaking! :-)

Starting to get a sore back and regular mild period pain type cramps so hopefully it won't be too many more days!

The baby will have the same length of life whenever he/she is born, but I'm telling you, he/she is easier to care for whilst inside you.

Currently your body is dealing with feeding, poo and wee disposal, sleep and comfort.

Triggering labour before you are ready can mean a more difficult labour as the baby might not be optimally positioned or ready to come out.

Just rest, relax and have a bit of fun on these last few days.

Nothing worked for me. Was induced at 40+12. Tried pineapple, curry, raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on the ball, walking, dancing, relaxing, reflexology, crying, and had 2 sweeps. It was the longest 2 weeks if my life! Baby comes when baby wants Grin

Both times I had a really big meal. It was like I was so full, that baby got fed up with being squashed and decided to come out instead!

I was 40+12. Had tried everything. I think it was sex - stick you legs up in the air as long as possible afterwards to ensure lots of semen contact with cervix. I also had an emergency reflexology session with a midwife attached my hospital the day before. I walked an hour a day too.

Nothing works otherwise no one would need to be induced for being overdue.

I started doing everything from 38 weeks and my DD was born 11 days late.

Sounds like things are starting to move for you though...
