C section scar is lumpy

I had a section 18 days ago. The scar looks fine but underneath it feels very swollen and lumpy, it's also quite tender to touch. My midwife yesterday said it's probably bruising and fluid and will reabsorb in time. Has anyone had similar? (I'm worried I have an infection.) Thanks.

Hi I've had two c-sections. My first I had infection but c-section turned into a week in intensive care internal bleed elsewhere needed transfusion. But the actual csection war wound got infected skin was red and hot to touch and yellow/green stuff sorry for detail but best u know exactly also had fever. Ur gp and nurses are keeping an eye but any hesitation go back to gp. Because of my infection I have no feeling around my tummy now because of server scaring. :(

But lumpy tender is normal. Maybe for a while. I still get the odd pain and all is lumpy due to scaring

Thanks pipsqueakz, your experience sounds grim. There's no weeping or redness. I'm keeping a close eye on it though.

It will take a while to settle down, my ds if 4 and I've still not got much feeling in the scar area.

I had an infection in my c section. All my tum above the scar was red and hot to touch, with weeping gunk from part of the scar. I ended up having to stay in hospital to have iv antibiotics. Then community nurses came to my house to change the dressing for two weeks after I was discharged.

Do keep an eye on it and see somebody straight away if it's not right.
