Period cramps 6wks postpartum but EBF

Lochia stopped at around 3wks and have had nothing since.

Today I've been in quite some pain from period-type cramps. No bleeding. I've noticed a bit of discharge over the last few weeks but when we tried to DTD a few days ago I was way too dry (so I'm assuming no hormones functioning 'normally' yet).

DS is 6wks old and EBF: longest between feeds is probably 2.5hrs, if I'm lucky. He's not a good sleeper....

DD was BF until 12m and only when I totally weaned did my period come back.

Is this just the final lot of afterpains??

I got terrible cramps after 2nd dc was born and with dc3 and 4. Was told it was natural womb cramps - but was always while BF. All 4 of mine were EBF. Lasted for a few weeks. its not pleasant - but will stop.

I got awful cramps at around 8 weeks - lochia had stopped after 2 weeks, had a period at 6 weeks, and baby was about 80% BF (after being mostly FF for the first 8 weeks). During that 8th week he fed a lot more than usual, and I had horrific stomach cramps.

I would say it's just afterpains.

BF (and EBF until weaning) with both my two. They fed at least every two hours but periods returned at 10 weeks and 6 weeks respectively. So it is possible. For me I thought AF was coming but after DC2 turned out I get quite bad ovulation pain (although it has lessened with time).
