Curious and it may impact on whether we ttc #2. I'm aware ELCS is offered for breech and for twins...

I was offered one with ds1 for SPD, I declined.

Was also told in should have one with dd as they thought she was 9lb+ and I am small, I pointed out ALL my previous babies had been 9lb+, in fact ds4 was 10lb 13oz and delivered in birth pool!! Plus I knew dd wasn't tthat big!

You can request a c section if yo want one :)

loads of threads on here if you search past history.

i was offered one due to the emotional problems i had with my first birth, which was supposedly technically great!!! i knew it couldn't go better and other things so i asked for one and got it.

i hardly think about the op now, months later but i thought about that first birth for years later.

as others say a great second birth helps to cancel out the trauma of the first, i have felt this to be so with my section, however, recovery is not to be sniffed at, it was frustrating, i am not sure how i would have coped with a toddler as well.

my consultant said it was clearly important for me to feel more in control, and i did. i am very grateful to her.

I've had 3.First was offered and done because I asked for it(various factors including my age,not wishing to go overdue etc),2nd was offered because I'd already had one and didn't want VBAC,3rd done because having had 2,that was what they recommended as safest option.

Because I was traumatised by poor medical care during first birth. It was a great decision and the elcs was a much more positive experience

I was offered after an emergency one and accepted! Having my fourth in a couple of weeks!

My twins were on the large side, so I was advised it was best for my health but only at 37 weeks as all other indicators were for a vaginal birth. Twin A head vertex etc.

Macrosomia.

Except, once they got the sunroof open, she was only 8lb 6oz after all.

I then had vbac1 and then vbac2, both fairly disastrous, and now hold a 'this woman is to have elcs' consultant letter for any future births.

I was offered one with ds, because I tore badly with dd1 and 2. The ELCS was the worst birth of the lot!

I've been told by three different gynae consultants that I should have one for any future babies (only had one DS so far), and have a letter stating this too.

Reasons for this is I had a 4th degree tear, shoulder dystocia and pph. I also had PTSD and PND as the birth was so traumatic for all of us so I could request one for 'mental health' reasons also.

I was offered one because I have bipolar disorder and pregnancy isn't compatible with my medication. I chose to be steralised during c section because it wasn't fair on the children I have to go through another pregnancy

I've been offered an ELCS because of forceps damage with my first birth and will take it without hesitation as I would not wish to go through that again!
