39+6, just had a sweep. Feel a little tender...

...but that's it really. I don't mean my foof is tender, rather my whole bump is. Potentially a couple more BH since the sweep and one or two tiny spots of blood.

If it's been successful, how long can I expect to wait before things ramp up? I suspect it hasn't worked, boo! I know it's relatively early days but it's so hard not to hope things are getting going!

Hope it works for you, I had three before finally being induced, I found them to be very painful and left me sore don there and around my bump. I had to have two of them done in hospital with gas and air it hurt that much! Although I had no show or bh so hopefully it's worked for you. Good luck! We're both due near same time I'm 39+2! X

It took sweeps for me both times to kick things off - two each time - but both my DCs so far have been back to back. Did the midwife tell you anything about how ripe your cervix was? It won't do anything if your body's not ready anyway.

Impossible to say. You could have baby this evening, or you could be still waiting at 40+12! One of the many joys of childbirth :)

I had DH give me a "natural sweep" Grin last night (I'm 38+4) and I've had vicious Braxton Hicks all morning. But I had them at this stage with DS too and I didn't have him till 40+5 so I'm resigned to suffering through them and just ignoring them as best I can.

Grrr, things seem to have settled back down. Bump no longer tender, BH tailing off. I'll be employing my tame prostaglandin-provider later! I think she said my cervix was 'slightly posterior' but dilated to 2cm, so slowly but surely my body's getting the idea.
I didn't really find the sweep that painful, thankfully - uncomfortable yes, but not painful. I'm to get my community midwife to do another one on Friday. In the meantime: sex, curries, walking and I may scrub the kitchen floor tomorrow!
Good luck to everyone, hope your sweeps, natural or otherwise, work soon! Grin
