what is the chance of the sweep working 38+4

Hi

I was wondering what is the chance of the sweep working?

My cervix is 2-3cm and at the front but slightly long and stretchy. The Dr believes it will work

If the sweep doesn't work I will be getting induced next Thursday at 39+4.

I lost my show and getting cramp pains.

if you have had a show and your cervix is favourable it may well work

i had a sweep at around 39 weeks after a show and it kicked things off

It worked on me at 37+5, labour started 36 hours later and ds was born 6 hours later. I was also due to be induced at 38+3 (first labour was fast and we live 90 minutes away from the hospital). My biggest fear was that we wouldn't make it to the hospital (and most importantly: pain relief!) but we did and ds was perfect if maybe a little grumpy at being evicted before his time Wink

PS I hadn't had a show or any sign of labour and privately thought it wouldn't have any effect. Therefore I did not pack my bag or any such practical things and ended up doing this in the throes of contraction Blush. Fun memories! Be prepared for worst (best?) case scenario.

I had a sweep at 38+6 and ds was born within 24 hours.
I think it depends on if your ready AND how aggressive the sweep was.
With my DD I had sweeps and they didn't really work, but I left each one feeling as if they hadn't really done anything... whereas when I had the sweep with DS my god it hurt!
Sounds like things are happening for you... go run around the house to speed them up! Grin

I'm hoping it works but really don't want to get my hopes up.

I'm pleased sweeps have worked early for others.

I had a sweep on my due date with DD and she was born 3days later.

I'm in two minds whether to go to bed to try and have some sleep (when the contractions started with DD I ended up with no sleep for 3nights and by the time I got some sleep it was when DD was 4days old through the PN ward then DD thinking night was day) or go and bounce on my ball.

The cramping has gone, I actually slept all night last night.

I've lost more show which was more red. I have had a good night sleep and feel very refreshed. Now just time for baby to decide to come.
