Hello! I had my first baby there last December and thought they were great. The Labour Ward staff were friendly, professional and reassuring throughout what was a long and somewhat complicated labour. the midwives in particular were lovely. Oh, and the anaesthetist! I had heard bad things about the Maternity Ward (where you might end up for a day or two if there are complications), but found it to be really good too - loads of support round the clock. I pressed the buzzer for help many times, including to ask whether I'd put the blanket on my newborn OK (!). There was just one unfriendly senior nurse who was unhelpful when we asked when we might be able to go home, but everyone else was super nice. However, a friend of mine who gave birth there within 2 weeks of me did not have a good experience with the maternity ward (unhelpful staff), although she also rated the Labour Ward highly.

I hope that's helpful - let me know if you have specific questions.

I had my DS there in 2010.
I had an emcs and the staff and hospital were fantastic,DS was in special care for a week too.
Compared to Lewisham where I had my daughter the care and staff was like a 5* hotel.
Having said that the new birth centre at Lewisham looks great.

Hi - I realise that this is too late for you, but in case people are searching for up to date information on Kings College I thought I would post my thoughts. I am dad, but have now seen 5 babies delivered at Kings College. 3 singletons and two twins. I have to say, the level of care has always been exemplary. This culiminated on Monday morning just gone (21st January 2013). My wife was admitted to hospital the night before for observations and treatment - she had "severe pre-eclampsia". At about 9am on Monday morning, 5 minutes after I had arrived to see her and (I thought) bring her home, she had an eclamptic seizure in the room with me. I just can't tell you how terrified I was. Within no more than 20 seconds, 10 people were in the room, I was (quite rightly) no longer in the room, I was sat down, reassured, and twin one was born at 9 41am and twin 2 at 9 43am. It was an incredible experience. Not one I would wish to repeat, but incredible nonetheless. The first few days were then spent with mum in HDU and babies in neo-natal intensive care. I suppose you do get treated a little better if there is genuinely something amiss, but even so every member of staff that I met has been diligent, friendly, communicative and seemed to love their job. As far as I am concerned I would be much happier at Kings College than I would a private hospital or any other hospital for that matter. They were incredible!
