Off to Morocco next month where I'm informed it's going to be very difficult to come by a car seat for my 7m DD. Don't want to risk our expensive (and very heavy) car seat in the plane's hold, so thought I would buy a cheapy one to take with us. Asda have a Nania on sale at £25 at mo, is it a good idea to buy for a one-off trip - can't imagine quality is amazing but surely okay for a week? What do you think?

I would try and get a look at it in the flesh and see how it goes in the car. I hired one in the EU once and said I would never do it again we didn't know how it fitted and didn't go in the car very well and I don't think it would have gone in any car very well I would buy a cheap seat to go on holiday but I would get one that fits my car so I could use it for friend children and my child going in a different car.

mmm, i'm not sure-i've not seen a nania baby seat but have seen the group 1's and boosters and they look pretty crap tbh. i've also heard on here people say they are bad.

what baby seat do you currently have? could you really not take that or have you any friends that have finished with their baby seats and you trust enough to know the history of the seat? i would offer you mine but i plan to use it for another baby if i'm lucky enough to have one.

How old is your little one? If over 2 and having their own seat have you thought of taking it on the plane with you? We did this and it was fab as safe for toddler on the plane. Bit of a faf going through the airport but I think you can get wheels. Obviously no good if infant going to be on your lap for the journey

I wouldn't take my home car seat on a flight if it had to go in the hold. I didn't know you could take it on the plane, who did you fly with piglet? I would try to get a second hand one from a trusted friend for travelling with or buy a cheap booster style one. I'm currently having the same dilemma for ds2. Learnt first time round not to rely on hire car companies to supply what they have promised.

I would get a baby car seat from ebay, a friend, or freecycle - I wouldn't touch that nania one.
