Can anyone recommend a car seat for a newborn for the Audi A4 convertible? It's a 2 door but 4 seater car and I'm really not sure where to start....any ideas?

Have a look at the Britax Fit Finder www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/fit-finder and see if that may help you

Can you deactivate airbag in front seat with key or switch? Using the front seat for a rear facing seat is just as safe as the rear so it' a good option in cars with limited space in the rear.

In the front sat pretty much any seat would fit, I would recommend a Britax Hi-Way since it fits well in prety much any car. In case you want to see photos of all the rear facing Swedish seats installed in a regular A4 please email me at hakan AT carseat.se.

Hi-Way is certified 0-25 kg, if used from birth buying the extra head support is a good idea. I've used this seat for both my kids from an early age, it's a fantastic light weight seat which will keep kids rear facing until age 4-4.5.

What year is it? If you have isofix points then the Britax Babysafe plus SHR fits if using the isofix base. My friend uses this seat in her 2006 A4 cabriolet. She said it easyer with the base as she then only has to 'click' the seat in and hasnt got the hastle of 'faffing' around in a tight space trying to strap the seat in!! She has once used it without the base when her dh went off with it in his car!! It was realy tricky to fit and the belt only just squeezed round it.

We had the Britax Cosy Tot Premium Isofix in ours. Def get isofix as really hard to fit anything manually.

Dh says it's now called the Babysafe/babysafe plus.

We have a 3 door A3 and the maxi cosi cabriofix (isofix) fits perfectly in the back - so would fit in the A4.

It's similar to the Britax seat - also has a separate base and can be used without it too.

Audi do not recommend putting the infant seat in the front - although you can turn the switch off in the glove box, they cannot guarantee it will not go off.
