Britax Rock a Tot car seat too small at 5 months - help!

Hi, my daughter is 5 months old and 17 1bs so she's not a particularly big baby. The Britax RF Rock a Tot car seat that we have seems quite small for her already - her head isn't above the top but legs are hitting the back seat of the car seat and there's no more room in the straps to expand so I'm worried that one day soon she just won't fit into it anymore. I've had a look online at other seats but the next size up starts at 201b (recommending 9 months) my only other option seems to be to buy a seat that will go to 15 months but I can't really afford to do this and then buy another one after that. Anyone out there have a solution to this issue?
Thanks

Her legs hitting the back seat is perfectly normal. As they get older they need to sit with their legs bent.

As for the straps, I'm not sure is she particularly tall?

The other option is a Britax First Class. Goes from 0-4yrs - rear facing until 13kg, forward after that. About £110 from memory.

Had Britax training as part of my job. Please, please don't move her up until her head is poking up to the top. Legs over the edge is perfectly normal. She is so much safer in this seat than others.
If you are totally worried about it, then try her in the Britax 1st class which smokin recommended as its rearward facing until she will be 12 months and a safer option.

You can check on their web site if it fits your car, and/or get a trained retailer to fit it for you.

Don't even think about putting her into a forward facing car seat.

Thanks for all of the replies, you've put my mind at rest regarding her legs hitting the back seat. I'm going to have another look at these straps and maybe take them into a shop that sells Britax stuff so they can check them for me but the First Class also sounds like a decent option if she does grow out of it quickly. I think she is quite tall for her age so that is probably why. Any other thoughts, suggestions welcome, you've saved me an afternoon of further research!

hi,

her legs hitting the seat is ok, as is the harness. in rf seats the harness should be at or below the shoulder height. the seat height wise is too small when her head is level with the top of the seat. as others have said rf is much safer, have a look on www.rearfacing.co.uk for more info. i would look at a rf seat to 4 years as most people i have 'heard' from haven't been happy with the first class seat-it's hard to get baby in and out, seat belt was too short, etc and have ended up buying a rf group 1 seat anyway! if you are anywhere near belfast or milton keynes i can recommend www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk and the britax two way elite car seat or for isofix the KISS!
