hi, please can anyone name a carseat that is to be used from around 3 yrs to 11 that uses a harness? My tall dd nearly 3, will be coming out of her maxi cosi priori soon and i havnt been able to find a carseat that will enable me to keep using a harness on her for a considerable time longer...
I am not comfortable with using a lapbelt on her as we had a lift in a friends car when she used one and it did not seem safe at all!

So please name any that:

  • are forward facing,
  • can use a harness up to around age 6 (maybe more)
  • have good scope for growth
    *have good side impact shields
  • possibly have recline option

    Thanks in advance

We have a Britax Evolva which uses a harness up to 18kg in weight, and then uses the seat belt (but not lap belt, it has to be a proper crossover belt). Not sure if there are any harness ones for 6 year olds, but I'm no expert.

The Evolva reclines a bit but only when you're fitting it, so you can't recline it once they're in, iyswim, and it has excellent side impact shields.

it's here

Yep, we've got the Evolva too, for our two dc's, very happy with them.

Recaro Young Sport also has a removable 5 point harness and we love ours!

the only harnessed one in the uk afaik that goes to 25kgs is the britax two way elite, there used to be an elite but that is no longer made. all the rest are only tested to 18kgs.

the usa sell higher harnessed weight seats but they are not for use it the uk as they are not ECE Regulation 44-03 or R44.04. the in car safety centre sell the twe seats.
