DD is about 8.3 kg but her head is about to go over the top over her maxi cosi cabriofix so need to replace her seat.

Any recommendations? How about the concord ultimax isofix? Alternatively I don't mind buying another group 0 for now that she might be small enough in height for...

thanks

You can get 0+/1 seats that are rear-facing til 10 or 13kg and then forward facing.

I thought it was eyes above the top of the carseat?

But yes you can get a group 0/1 seat instead.

Do you mean the top of her head, or that her eyes are level with the top of the seat?

Quick google tells me it's top of head within an inch of top of carseat.

We had the same issue. I would recommend britax first class seat, can be forward or rear facing.

I thought it was ears over the top of the seat.

Anyway, either get a 0/1+ seat that goes rear facing then turns. Or better still, go for extended rear facing (til aged 4). Bit of a niche area, but google it. I'm considering it for DS2 as his group 0 seat needs to go back to the people who lent it to us, and I don't think he'll be ready to go forward facing by then.

Your dd sounds similar to mine, she's 13mo and 8.2kg. At the moment she still fits in the carrier but she will outgrow it in height before weight.

As already mentioned, you could go with a combination seat, we've got a First Class in our camper and it's a good seat; or look into ERF (extended rear facing). I want a Britax Dualfix when she's ready. Look on Securatot
who are very helpful and sell all the main seats.

Its top of head at top of seat for the rf seats, then ears/eyes at top for ff seats.

I would have a look at extended rf seats if your dd is a tall one. in car safety centre are very good and can advise over the phone. Or the Britax first class is a group 0-1 seat that rf till 13 kg then ff to 18kg.

I'd go with all the comments above adising rearfacing. My 5 1/2 year old little lad is still rear facing and loving it - the stats speak for themselves - 5 times safer and medical professionals are meant to be advising us to go rearfacing until at least 2-4, but unfortunately you don't hear much about it out there!
