Sorry for the probably stupid question, but there's a sale at Kiddicare and i just want to see how i can find out if this will be suitable for my 2006 Mini One

maxicosi

Sorry if this is a stupid question but i've never bought first time mum and don;t want to make an expensive mistake.

the maxicosi website says it hasn't been tested.

thanks in advance x

Hi, ive just posted a similar thread in that the maxi cosi website said it was not compatible with my car but its a relatively new model and wondered if they had just not tested it yet, but are you saying that you went to halfords and they were able to test it out for you? I went to mothercare and all they said was if it doesnt say it on the website then its not compatible, they didnt offer to actually try it out in the car? I just assumed that an isofix base would more or less be compatible with any isofix points?

Its not that great a price to be honest either. Go to a local independent store who can look at your car and advise. Is your mini and a 2 or 4 door?

By getting the familyfix base you are paying more £££ for the chance you may use the pearl as a group 1 seat. Considering rearfacing is up to 5xsafer you may want to save the money for an extended rearfacing seat.

Getting car seats for a Mini is a proper pain. Most car seat manufacturers have a telephone and email helpline if you need advice on your choices.

I've heard that BMW have been rather uncooperative with many of the car seat brands and not released cars to them for testing, therefore you could fit a seat, it could feel safe and secure, but there's no guarantee that it actually would be safe in the event of an accident (which is ultimately what the seat is for).

I believe Recaro seats are tested for installation in Minis, and you can buy Mini branded seats from main dealers.
