Thinking getting an smax. I keep reading that you can get fillers for the storage, but am drawing a blank in actually getting them (local dealer didn't know about it...). I know they are available in other countries... Can anyone here help?

Thanks

my picasso has these...... so rediculouse.... they make a big thing about the isofix points, then put these empty boxes in, so we cant use most of the isofix seats that you can buy. Angry

If you look on this site here and scroll down until you get to some pictures you can see that someone has taken the lid off the storage compartment and has the leg of the seat going down to the true floor of the car, the bottom of the storage compartment. Would that work?

have you tried contacting Ford direct via their website and asking?
or go into a different dealer and say that you KNOW they exist, and can they please look it up for you?

might be worth posting on the forum on rearfacing.co.uk (even if it isn't an ERF seat you're getting) because I am pretty sure some people on there have them

apparently you can't do it by taking the lid off in the SMAX because the support leg is not long enough...

Moonstorm Which car seat are you thinking of?

You could call the In Car Safety team from Essex County Council, if you read the OP from this thread back in 2009 it suggests that proper Ford fillers are available for the S-max.

Right have spoken to Ford. (Customer services, dealers didn't know). You need a FOAM SPACER. It shouls be in the handbook for the car and you can use Isofix AS LONG AS you have the foam spacer in the compartment. I'm very happy now.

ps it was the Ford S-Max (unless I can think of a slightly smaller alternative that's not the Citroen/ Peugeot..) and the Besafe Izi.

Thank you all!!

thisisyesterday... I love the seat too. Can you get two rearfacing seats into you car plus an adult in the middle???

This is the catch - I need a car wide enough, but I don't really need seven seats..

Thanks!

I do have 3 seats across the back of my car (picture on my profile)

i've had my mum in the back on the drivers side with 2 ERF seats next to her! so technically ought to be able to fit someone in the middle... the problem would be getting them in there lol

not sure whether citroen do them nannyl, it seems to be something that few car manufacturers have thought about tbh, which is silly esp on family cars!
think you'd need to ring citroen customer services and ask

Hi, I am buying an S-Max and I have the same issue with the underfloor storage. My S-Max has a filler in the underfloor storage but it isn't solid, it is made of polystyrene and has shapes cut out, presumably for storing things.

Has anyone purchased the parts mentioned in this thread? Are they solid or do they have shapes cut out too?

We couldn't find one for the Xsara Picasso, but our Maxi Cosi base's leg reached the floor of the compartment.

Very annoying that they didn't make a filler though. When I phoned customer services I was told that they had a car seat that was compatible, but I can't remember the name now. Sorry.

Hi

I did a bit more research today and found the following (with reference to the pictures). One picture is an extract from the S-Max owners manual, this suggests that setting the leg on the lid is ok so long as the foam spacers are fitted. The other picture was from the Ford parts team, it shows various parts which look like they fit in the storage spaces, acting as the 'foam spacers'.

If anyone needs these parts, part numbers are those written on the sheet in biro.

I haven't got my car yet but I think it has the spacers, if not, I know I can buy them from Ford.

Moonstorm, did you ever manage to get the foam fillers for your smax? We are in the process of trying to get hold of some and would really appreciate any information you may be able to provide to make the search easier. As you found, the dealers don't seem to be able to find them. Thanks.
