Do you want a big busy site a la Sandyballs?

or something more like Ross Park over in Devon.

Sorry not much help with t'other side of the country, Have you checked out ukcampsite?

If it's over the Bank Holiday that you're thinking then I'd get in soon, a lot of places will be full (or nearly!) already.

what about that one near brighton that allows campfires, can't remember the name now...anyone? V.popular though

Another one I loved was in Uplyme beside Lyme Regis -Hook Farm - really nice, quiet, set in a lovely valley and a gorgeous walk along the river into Lyme Regis, might be a bit far for you though

Thanks Lucycat - Ross Park looks lovely, Sandyballs perhaps a bit big?
DH has just mentioned Dorset as a possibility!
