we are going to italy (twice!) camping with 3 under 5's this year. First time is near Florence in May and as the campsite doesn't say if pools are heated wondered if kids would be allowed to wear wet suits? Also have heard all swimmers must wear swimming caps is this true ?
Thanks for help - willl help keep packing and last minute shopping in order

Hi there
Not sure re wet suits but yes they (and you) will def have to wear swimming caps. Think the wetsuits may be a new one for them as Italian kids arent generally allowed in any form of outdoor water until the mercury hits 30 degrees odd so the idea that you dress in heavier swim gear to be able to swim in cooler weather will be alien to them. As I point out to my Italian dp, I grew up having summer holidays off the coast of the west coast of Scotland and swam in the sea so am damn sure ds can have a paddle in 20 degrees
Have a lovely holiday!

Thanks gio71 will buy the caps - we live West Scotland and our kids strip off at the mere hint of temp in double figures!

We did two sites in Tuscany last year. Swam in both without swim caps. Wasn't a problem.

all the italian campsites I've ever stayed on require swimming hats but they all wear loose fitting cloth ones rather than the elasticy ones.
