Sorry! I was wondering if this was worth getting secondhand...has anyone got one?

Gelert is a "low price" brand....if it's second hand make sure you check it over thoroughly. Check for splitting at either end of pole sections, tears in pole sleeves, stitching at pegging points/guy line points, and give it a good sniff for signs of mildew which can badly affect waterproofing! Good luck!

That is brilliant advice, Expelli...Oh, brilliant name too!

I was going to bid on one on ebay but decided against it - after reading that I'm glad!!

Thanks

What would be a better brand to go for btw?

I think Vango are good, no?

Vango, outwell, coleman are all good brands, but Gelert are a good starter brand.

Gelert are usually cheap (and you can get some really good bargains in the sales) and we've had a cadiz 5 for years that makes a good overnight tent for me and the kids.

Oh thankyou Mrs Pnut

It takes a lot of browsing and reading reviews to suss out what are the good ones...

I have now ordered an Outdoor Revolution Starcamper - it was half price as it was a display model. I hope it's Ok

It has good reviews...something about being a 'technical' tent?

Very tempted by the Milletts offer on the W. Wyoming though, it is just eye candy for me as we don't need anything massive. Thinking of selling the Bell tent when it arrives, but I might just fall in love with it...the smaller one is in case!

There are 4 of us and we have a 9 berth tent. It's always best to have masses more space than be cooped up in a tiny tent if it's cold or rainy.

I use the little gelert for overnight stays if I've got the 2 kids by myself because there isn't much room inside for the table and chairs.
