Yes, it's early - well, really, it's rather late.

But hey Spring is just around the corner.

Sainsbury's sells a brilliant packet near their rice section called 'Beanfest'.

Toss in some a small tin of fried onions and a tin of chopped tom after you've added the water to the mixture.

Toss with shredded cheese and serve in tortilla wraps.

MMmmmmmm! Very filling.

Nasi Goring from the freezer in Lidl! Complete meal, stir fry in one pan. So yummy we just have it at home without the bother of going camping (on special at £1.00 this week).

I like fresh tortelloni with a stir in sauce, plus roasted tomatoes (OK thats cheating I have a caravan cooker)

Goash, its ages since I've been camping but we used to have:

"Camping Breakfast" - tomatoes, spuds, mushrooms, bacon, whatever fried in a pan with eggs on top, sort of scrambled/ omeletty

Spag Bol - Make the sauce at home and freeze it - use it in cool box for a day as an extra ice block then add to spaghetti

Chili - as above but with rice

Also couscous

When I was little we used to have those packet rice things. When I did Duke of Edinburgh stuff I vaguely remember people eating Vesta meals.

M&S do tinned dinners that we have with rice/pasta. they are absolutely shamefully delicious and it's SO HARD not to eat them at home all the time too. veg curry, steak in gravy, chicken curry, lamb stew.... heaven. but yes, we also do the frozen spag sauce thing too. honest.

Ah ... M&S ! I didn't think of that. I'll have to have a look at their tins when I'm in there next. I had a look in Tescos before we went on holiday last summer but couldn't find any decent tinned meat dishes to have with tinned potatoes or rice. When we regularly went camping pre-dd, we always had a few such tins in stock as "emergency" meals.

I did a beef caserole, froze it, used it on day 2 and it was bloody fantastic. Just heat up and serve with chunky bread
