This one from ebay has the sig and sleeps 9 but doesn't look the easist to pitch.

This monster seems to have a sig - what do you think?

the trouble with a huge tent is that they are never going to be really easy to pitch!

We bought a Khyam Ridgi-pod (as opposed to the rigi domes) excelsior quick erect tent on Ebay last year. It is a massive tent with 3 bedrooms (you can actually choose how many bedrooms you put up and each would sleep 4 comfortably). Khyam have discontinued them now but I believe that they were retailing at about £900 when new and were considered to be the creme de la creme of tents. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we half erected it - for a tent of its size its was v quick to put up - and decided that it was FAR too big for our needs (there are only 4 of us) and put it back in the bags. It has sat in my dads garage ever since - interested in buying it?

Ah, but it does not have a SIG.

Halster thanks but I couldn't have one without a SIG.

We've got the Outwell Montana and it was very easy to pitch:

Is it the 12? I am looking at that one or the Gelert michigan?

Does the outwell have a sig in the living area?

We have the Khyam Ontario which is a littler version of the gelert michigan I think- only a tiddly eight man though LOL

Very easy to pitch, even with several kids flying around, we've also ahd gelert tent before and liked the quality

Would go with that meself

The khyam might do you though- the layout is good, one big bedroom with optional divider and 2 small ones other side, we usually leave one bed pod out and use as storage and will do that this year even with 4 kids and 2 adults

Will it fit a travel cot and a husband who is 6'6"?

The problem is dd1 is nearly 13 so will want privacy so I suppose it's like 4 kids and 3 adults.

3 kids in big pod

1 older kid in small pod, you nd DH in other

Does work

Not sure about height though LOL (although as sewn in you CAN use centre area, that's a bonus of SIGs really- ours has fitted carpet in that bit too LOL.

Other option fr oldest of course that many use is pup tent... then its easy, you and DH is big pos, 2 in small, 1 in other small (travel cot- will fit that easily).

It's technically a *+5 person as middle is usuable.

there you go

remember big pod comes with a divider curtain, though we don't use it.

God no peachy thats too small

The one we have thats broke is a 12 man and I think I am too used to the extra space.

So the Gelert it is then you reckon??

If the Outwell is cheaper would it be so bad to get that rather than the Gelert?

Any other ones similar?

I need to do my research and then find one on Ebay coz dh has said no to another tent and to fix the one we have but I hate it So will just buy it with my paypal money

I'd say th Gelert, have been in it at the local campstore and its nice.

Can you get pitches with a tent that size? We were refused several this year with the Khyam, and its eems more get on the small tents only bandwagon every year

Last year we managed to go 3 times and didn't have a problem. Hopefully we won't get too many problems.

Ok now to go look on ebay

www.outwell.dk/TentMeasure.aspx?b=Outwell&bid=2&lid=1&l=en-GB&catID=13&TentId=119&pid=1 We've got this huge thing, major footprint for the campsite, but you can happily do over a week in it without killing each other. We sleep 5 in ours, plus who ever else turns up/needs shelter when it rains ground sheet is in it, downside is you have to put the inner up 1st, not good when its raining.

magHOOVERlia74 · 13/02/2008 20:16

Frizbe, thats a dome tent which is just too hard to put up with 5 kids to keep an eye on.
Its got to be a tunnel tent with a SIG so no inner 1st as it adds time and energy.

DH is owner of an outdoor shop and suggests waiting for some of the new Vango family tents come out this spring as quality is excellent and new designs appear to have actually been well thought out!!!!
