Does anyone know, and while I'm here, know about child seats?
Thanks

It's about an hour away. I never took a taxi there, but I would guess about £30. It's a very small airport, so you may need to pre-book a taxi. They wouldn't have car seats, so you'd have to take your own.

Hope that helps.

so are you campng on il de re and wanting just to get to campsite? we use our car & drive down because of the heavy shopping but used bikes most of last year - you can hire them there (talking about ile d'oleron but its much the same). often wondered about fly drive there -

Hi, been there a couple of times. We went from the train station in La Rochelle to St Martin and it cost about £40 - that was for a Scenic for 4 adults, took about 45 mins. The airport is much closer to the island than the station, so might be less. The distance is short but at peak times it can take ages cos the roads are narrow and go through the towns. There are buses too - we usually get them on the road home because you're not in such a rush.

We never camped, but we did get an Intermarche supermarket delivery to our villa. You have to pay when it's delivered. Would def. be worth doing for a big shop at the start - carrying lots of stuff on the bikes is a bit precarious!!

Hope you have a great time!

Just remembered that you have to pay a 30 euro toll each time you cross the bridge to the island during peak season. This would effect the taxi fare.

Have a great time. It's a lovely place.

Thanks. Do you think we'd use a car much in a fortnight?

Nope! Only time it might come in handy was for supermarket trips to buy the local Ile de Re wine and beer! Could always use a taxi or just buy day by day instead though. The whole place is set up for bikes, there are tracks everywhere. You can print a map off here www.iledere.com, but there's loads of signs about. The paths are totally car-free and very rarely go near normal roads except in the towns/villages.

Re. the bridge toll, we never had to pay that seperate to the actual taxi fare. I asked before we got in the taxi how much it would be and then we stuck to that.

Interlude.
We are really looking forward to it but since we usually only go away for a week (to Cornwall) I'm worried that we might be a bit bored by the 2nd week
Where did you stay?

Interlude! It's lovely It's right on the beach and loads of lovely bike rides all around. St Martin (about 10 min cycle ride away) is a lovely little town and has some fab restaurants.

We chose Interlude cos my DH stayed there when he was about 10yrs old with his family - site has changed loads but his pitch was still there!

The on site reasurant is really nice and there is a large indoor and outdoor pool - both rather cold although we did go in Sept. When are you going?
