We have been on our first successful camping weekend, with the outwell hartford xxl, managed to get up in the prescribed timeframe in dry conditions. But, how on earth do you put it up if it's raining and avoid getting the inner tent wet?

Is it inner pitch first then?

quickly would be my answer - they do dry really quickly with good ventilation.

it is inner pitch first, but thought there might be some method to get the fly done at the same time. if the inner gets wet, does it seep through if you touch the tent walls?

No it shouldn't do, just make sure the vents are open to get a breeze through it once it's pitched.

btw I've just noticed you have a 2 month old - wow camping! and he is gorgeous too - what hair!

Hi Brownsuga, we have the xxl too, fab tent isn't it? Apparently if you are big enough and strong enough you can suposedly lay the flysheet over the inner and lift them up together! have never tried myself. The inner does dry out relatively quickly tho' if it gets wet. Last time we pitched it in the pouring rain, it was so wet that rain pooled insie in the sig, a quick wipe down with the towels and the heater on soon dried it out. BTW did you know that the 2008 version will be fly pitch first?

thanks lucycat, he looks like a little man already! we've "camped" in the backyard with him as a trial, then took him to st bees for a weekend, he was good as gold.

thanks hennipenni, i wanted to wait until next year to buy tent, but dh jumped the gun. oh well. mmmm a tent heater, that sounds like a good purchase!
