Thanks Peachy for recommending Pont Kemys It really was a lovely campsite with fab loos and showers. We were in the tent field and it was lovely and quiet. Didn't really like the Chainbridge pub - it had a vastly overcrowded camping field attached to it and wasn't very clean so we walked up to the Black Bear a couple of nights. They were so friendly in there and gorgeous food.

Can also recommend the cuckoo and goose pub a few miles away in the middle of nowhere - very basic food but all cooked on an aga and really really delicious. decor was like out of the 1920s!

Did have a slight problem with the weather and our poor old tent but hey ho

Ditto Lucycat, since we have the opportunity here - Congrats Peachy

Is No 4 an excuse for a new tent???

It was supposed to be an excuse for a new tent 9though Dh wanted a Vermont which was likely to cause a few spats) BUT his friend has just given us a once used sunncamp frame tent (we a wanted rigid after issues with the Khyam in the weather in Cornwall) for £50! Which is rather nice of him.

Glad you liked Pont Kemys badKitten, drove past in the week and thought of you actually- but felt that A) I wasnt sure when you were booked; and B) wwandering in and asking for some woman who uses Mumsnet- well, quite! LOL

Due April (Easter) so in time for Whitsun LOL. And neatly in bewtween dissertation and finals

oooh have you gone canvas on us? a Sunncamp..... posh

Having experienced the sturdiness of poly/cotton we wouldn't go back to the rustlyness (sp?) of nylon.

that's good timimg with no4 peachy, have you booked your site for Whit then?

We've arranged a family get together for Whitsun, it's Mum's 60th just after, and then their 40th wedding anniversary, so a year to celebrate.

I get a whole year off then pre- PGCE LOL (and Dh gets s nippety snip )

I presume we have curtains () but haven't seen it up yet

The Khyam did OK dutring abd weather in Cornwall (We saw some ruined utwells!!!) but bieng fibreglass we had to stay up all one night to stop it collapsing so DH is a bit narked with it

I did think about you in the weather that week - we had fantastic weather the week after in Cornwall and then in Devon.

We shall never again go to Trevornick though! I'm still trying to put into words my review for ukcamping gawd it was awful

now i would recommend pentewan- there was one thing that anoyed me (have also submitted to ukcampsite LOL) which ewas the next pitch tenants were allowed in to stare at us in annoyed manner at 8.30 on the day of departure (pitch was ours until 10), and tthere were several famillies so intimidating

The rest was pretty amazing- the beach was wonderful, only got to use it once but hey ho

ours was windbreak central - circle your tents and corral with windbreaks then drink loudly and play music until late

oh and you need lots of tattoos, a huge belly and a loud bellow to screech at your brats. You don't have to acknowledge any other campers as you are with your 'mates', you don't mop out the showers or wipe down the sinks after use.

beach was nice though.

mmmmmm......friends of yours?

The best thing about the site was the hire shop where we could hire a clothes airer for £4 for the week - and the pool was nice, if a lot too small for the site.

Dornafield in Devon was another matter, we camped in the orchard under an apple tree with the best toilet/shower blocks ever - huge pitch, absolute quiet at night - so gorgeous that we are going again next Whit.

That's where the photo of Lakey was taken

this apparently is what we have been given DH is very excited- we'll seee LOL< I can see it as a weekendd tent which would be handy

The Lake looks good. Friends (the ones who like Trevorninck.... guess why we don't go cmping together? everything welike (Eden, boat trips, etc) they loathe LOL) bought a Vermont the other day, which I am a bit about as he used to complain the caravan took too long to set up LOL! Ah well.

oooh I like that Peachy - nice curtains, big windows, little cooking porch thing at the side

We loved the Eden project too and the trip down the River Dart from Totnes to Dartmouth.

We always like boat trips- I suspect we camp alike more than these friends LOL!

Not abd that tent is it? Bit of luck LOL

Supposed to be in ST Davids now but have delayed a day as I'm very sicky, bit testing tent tomorrow
