Am taking my DS camping this weekend for first time - does anyone have any tips? We are going to the Lake District on a pretty basic site. Also are using our BC tent which is only 3.5 man so space will be limited!
Cheers

what kind of stuff do you want to know? What is worrying you?

bascially, it will be utterly fine. this is an easy age to go, esp if your ds is not really mobile.

There is nothing major that I can think of, aside from considering not cooking (posted on other thread)- I have taken kids this age camping and it was really ok. Fun even

I guess worried about the sleep thing. He has a good bedtime routine at home of tea, bath, bottle, cot and so worried he won't go to sleep. He also still wakes in night for feed and hope he doesn't wake whole site at 3am. It is only for two nights though so should be able to muddle through!

ok you are right to be worried

when camping, kids routines do go out of the window. That is part of the fun, IMO, a break from the usual routine.

They do sleep longer and better, just maybe not as early or as predictably as you are used to.

Don't worry about the 3 am feed. Unless he is literally screaming, and you are on a really busy campsite, campsites are pretty noisy places what with the dawn chorus and suchlike, and anyone who is sensitive to such things will know to take earplugs. A tentative wail is not going to be an issue.

Survived - thanks for the advice. Weather could have been better but DS coped fine. Will definitely go again!

Took our 10 wk old with no problems. Used the moses basket at night - take plenty of blankets! Washed her in a storage box which made a fab bath for her (have friends who use their cool box for this!), took a travel steriliser and used a blanket to lay her out on for "playtime" - the younger they are the easier it is. Not too sure what it will be like once crawling!
