Can anyone Recommend a fun family campsite within 2-3 hours of Birmingham please?

Last year I left it so late to book a campsite we ended up on a site with no facilities for the children as every where was booked up. It was our first camping trip - so lesson learned. Want to book early this year looking to go in August, roughly 2-3 hours journey from Birmingham, DS7 and DD3 so need somewhere that can entertain both ages. Want somewhere with plenty of things to do on the site so we do not have to go out every day and find activities to do, want somewhere DH and I can relax a bit.

Any one got any recomendations please?

Do you mean 'children's club' type of entertainmment or more adventure playground sort?

What about here - Wrexham ? (have to say we didn't like it - too busy and noisy - but I know some people love it and it has every facility imaginable. In fact my dh said "this is not really camping at all, is it?" )

We went to Cotswold Hoburne at the beginning of October and thought it was a lovely site, if it's this sort of thing you're after. Much preferred it to any of the Haven sites I've been to.

It was obviously quieter then so I'm not sure what it's like in August, and I don't know what the camping facilites are like as we were in statics.

just a little bit further is where we are going, pentewan sands (has a website. Also would suggest cheddar campsite (quite easy for you- straight down motorway) here great for relaxing weekends ime, but plenty in cheddar for older adventurous kids especially, but the campsite has the most amazing adventure playground I have ever seen, with freely available permanent barbecues and wooden table areas for the aprents around a (fenced off) overlooking area.

Lucycat - Forest type site, dont mind which direction to be honest, not really a children's club, just good on site children facilities like good adventure playground, pool etc. Thanks.

How about The Forestry Commission site at Beddgelert?

It's a lovely site, martianbishop stayed there last Whit and we went to have a nosey round (and to say hello, but she wasn't in at the time!!)

Haven't been to the Beddgelert one, but were very happy with the Forestry Commission ones in Forest of Dean - think they know how to run a really good site.

Forset of Dean is good - I've stayed at the Christchurch one, and Bracelands is often recommended on here

I actually prefer the Christchurch one - playground on site and you don't have to walk up a long hill to get to the shop (and the shop sells gorgeous pain au chocolats!)
