Looking for a campsite with a festival atmosphere

Anyone know somewhere really chilled out, family-friendly, bit hippyish maybe?
We took the littlies to Larmer Tree festival last year and enjoyed it so much we're going back next year but we'd also like a similar vibe for a longer stay.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks.

Ewelease Farm in Dorset is fab- mass families with instruments, and campfires are allowed !
We can't wait til next summer!

Oh I'd better mention that the toilets are holes in the ground with tents around, and a bag of sawdust!
They also have solar powered shower blocks. There are 4 "real" tiolets though, but often queues for those!!(and they are in converted garden sheds!)
You can't book until June I think, and theres a mad rush, so book early.

We loved it this year, it was so chilled and easy going- the kids all played with each other on haybales, and the beach is a 5 minute climb down a path.
At night there were over a hundred campfires glowing around the fields, and it was our best camping holiday ever
Hopefully see you there!- We'll be the ones dancing round at midnight with glosticks

Stockings - am thinking of going to Larmer, is it really good? I have a 6yo and would love to go to a festival with stuff for both of us.

Was toying with the idea of Glastonbury but worried it will be too busy/big for her and then found out I'm in Uganda the day tickets are released

ohh - I cannot help but will watch this thread with much interest (in a hippyish laid back way!)

Larmer was lovely, it was our first actual tent experience with a1 and a 2 yr old. Tickets were sold out by May so am on their mailing list waiting for them to go on sale next year. Beautiful gardens, very family friendly, great sideshows, workshops, classes, communal showers and award-winning bogs. Lovely night carnival in the rhododendron tunnels lit by lanterns the kids have made. Lots of Graun readers LOL.

Not worried about Eweleaze's facilities, I once camped at an ecoconference whilst suffering with morning sickness - once you've thrown up on a sawdusty poo pile, you feel like superwoman!

is ther music at larmer?? Have heard good things about it and we are aiming for 4 festies this year so...

Yeah, the music seems quite random but that's part of the fun, we saw bands we'd never bother going to see IRL and really enjoyed them. Bit limited with small children but we took turns pushing the youngest around in the evenings and my favourite was the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain but DH liked Dreadzone a lot more than he expected.

Oh definitely Sugarfree we' might as well just move to south west for the summer as evrything we want to do is down there. We'll be doing the cute little local music festival near us as last year's inaugural event was a blast, in June. Then down to Cornwall for out summer hols in late june. Booty Daze of course, and I am tempted by Larmer - dunno when it is though? We love the look of this campsite - might see if we can book in for after BD

And ShowofHands is aiming to come to BD (complete with baby!)

Ooh no, just seen the website and there are pics of crowd barriers in front of the stages, not so chilled out IMO! Too big for my cup of tea I think.

Larmer Tree festival looks fabulous, we started camping last year and would love this, have added my name to the list, how much were the tickets last year?

It is all very southwest biased what about us northerners?

Larmer Tree festival is fairly near to us. I've always fancied going but never made it. Might try this year - it sounds great. Doesn't Jools Holland always play?

fullmoonfiend · 29/12/2006 18:21

I know TSAP. We live in Yorks and I'm so sick on trekking down southwest.
Solfest is supposed to be quite good. When is Larmer??
