cleaning tent carpets

Just got back from camping in france and need to give the carpet a clean. If you have a tent carpet, how do you clean it. My options are

1, take it down to the launderette and chuck it one of their big washing machines but can't find any washing instructions and still not sure it will fit.

2, stick it over the trampoline and hose it down and let it dry.

3, lay it out in the front room (not really enough room) and spot clean.

Its not that dirty but we had a fair bit of rain so despite no shoes rule, some dirt did get in.

What have other people done?

I would stick it over the trampoline. I hose mine down and leave it to dry on the patio.

Seems like no.2 is easiest option. Weather forecast is good for tomorrow so I'm going to get hosing in the morning.

I'd go for the trampoline option too. If you stick it in a machine you run the risk of the various layers coming apart from each other

Wouldn't a good vacuum do it?

Fill bath with hot water, bio soap powder add tent carpet. Leave to soak for the day...every time I go to the loo I pull on me marigolds and give it (the carpet) a good slosh aboutGrin

Remove plug...let bath drain...press as much water out as possible.

Fill bath again with cold water to rinse (repeat as often as can be bothered).

Carry outside in large trug bucket. Hang over racks/ladders in garden.

thanks for the advice - I'm definitely going for the trampoline option but its raining now! I'll let you know how I get on.
Normally I'd just give it a good vacuum but it did get a bit of mud on it this year as we had so much rain.
