Thinking about getting a caravan..prices for a pitch in France compared to Eurocamp/canvas etc?

Just thinking about it at the moment. DS2 is autistic- if we can get a caravan and arrange it to his needs it sounds like a good idea. Have read lots about equipment needed etc and what to look out for. I was just wondering about the difference in cost between a Eurocamp holiday and a self organised caravan holiday on same site if that makes sense. Obviously I imagine that the fuel consumption to France would probably eat into any savings. Just wondering, am I mad to even consider this? ThanksSmile

It will depend on what the site is like - high season, site with all the facilities like a pool etc, will be expensive. But quieter sites is less popular areas will be cheaper.

google a few of the eurocamp-type sites such as Yelloh to get a feel.

Thanks Chippy- we are regular Eurocamp/Canvas users I just wondered if the price difference made it worthwhile or, as I suspect, having our own caravan wouldn't make much of a difference in terms of cost.

We did mobile homes a lot when the DC were younger, and a couple of time my parents met us with their touring caravan they were Shock at the price per night compared to smaller sites.

However, there are zillions of sites in France and you have more freedom with your own 'van.
