I'm thinking we need melamine? Where can we get some naice sets? I seemed to have missed all of the summer ranges in the shops - went in to look today and its all back to school and woolly jumpers!

Not sure they meet the naice requirement but I noticed some good ones in Lidl today. Plates that stack completely flush to one another so they take up hardly any space.

Ooh I was in lidl today as well but didn't see any plates. Were they in the aisle of randomness?

Of course Smile. They had matching bowls but not sure about cups.

I've just come back from a short trip. DS was in charge of washing up and he insisted we take disposable paper plates. They were fab. Quicker washing up, used to start the fire with a bit of kindling, used to waft fire as it was starting, used as a shovel to transfer ashes from campfire into the ash bin, ripped up I used them as a taper to light candles, used as a Frisbee by ds2.

Will use them all the time now!

Supermarkets have loads will probably be in the sale by now (Asda/Sainsburys I've seen both)

Ours are plastic rather than melamine, the sort sold as picnic sets in the supermarket. We then have a set of melamine mugs and some cheap Ikea cutlery.

The camping snob in me railed against melamine (I think that was the beginning of the end for basic camping TBH :o) so we have a rather plain set of IKEA crockery which I paid about 50p a piece for. It clatters about a bit when we are travelling but we have yet to break any

A Dutch company called Rice do REALLY nice melamine stuff but it's pricey! I like the IKEA idea TheFantasticMrsFox ..never been happy with either the enamel or melamine plate scenario for eating off.

Ikea do lovely colourful plastic cups/plates/cutlery/bowls sets. They are really cheap, bright, great fun, and really hard-wearing. In addition, they fit into one another quite well to save on space. We love them!

Thank you, we have the ikea kalas set already for days out. I too found a basic crockery set in there too but DH said not very sensible with our (little) DCs so suggested the unbreakable stuff. Will check out rice,I think I may have bought some of their stuff before too.

But I do like proper plates....
