My sitting room smells of Dutch canvas.

Wow that's a lot of bags for a tent - do you have a big car?

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2014 11:02

Quite a big car.

It's fine it's ALL GOING TO BE FINE.

I now own a De Waard, everything else is unnecessary.

Can we see a pic of it erect?

I needed to use the term erect given the circumstances - sorry!

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2014 11:12

My hair is fuller and thicker already, AND ITS NOT EVEN OUT OF THE BAG.

it's that good.

Oh wow!! Nice. Very nice.

I wouldnt know a De Waard from a Disney pop up tent. But very pleased for you.

Oh can we also have shots of you and your helper tripping over guy ropes? And swearing at tent pegs? Grin

Amrapaali · 30/07/2014 11:18

And breathe, Slubber.....

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2014 11:19

Grin

Want to pitch it NOW

Curses to husband at work, weak and feeble children and dog with non opposable thumbs.

I'm so happy for you!! Will we get pics of you all later? I've not been in mine yet this summer and I'm so jealous! Damn work and the necessity to eat!

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2014 11:32

Plans are to pitch it this weekend. Weather permitting. I've yet to discover the pitching instructions.

TheFallenMadonna · 30/07/2014 11:37

Is that a De Waard Albatros, the most expensive best tent in the world??

DH would be green with envy...

I hope you have dry weather when you take it down! (Obviously the elements are of no concern when you are actually in the magnificent structure!)

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2014 11:40

It is! It is an Albatros!

My dream tent for many many years.

Early 40th birthday present from dearest dearest magnificent husband.

He is a good man...

I love canvas

CampingClaire · 30/07/2014 11:49

Ermmmm...there aren't really 'instructions'....more a line drawing!! It's not hard though. My tip...role up the front door and fix with the straps before you start as they weigh a ton and you'll be trying to join poles with them flapping around your face otherwise!
The worst bit is the desire to have it pitched 'immediately'. Try for a weekend afternoon....you really need the neighbours to be around to wonder at it's awesomeness!!!

CampingClaire · 30/07/2014 11:51

What colour doors did you go for? Ours is burgundy. I feel the need ot pitch it this evening just to be in it again. DH and DD have been away a few times over the summer but they use the roof tent on the Land Rover when it's just them. I refuse to navigate a step ladder in the middle of the night when I need a wee!!

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2014 11:53

He is a good man.

We will be pitching it at the pils where there are going to be many visitors this weekend. They can all come and look but not touch

Claire, on the line diagram is there some indication on the order of the poles? With our Cabanon pyramide we do central pole first and work forwards. Same idea with the Albatros?

Green doors!

Ooh lovely. Tent envy Envy

SalomeD · 30/07/2014 13:38

Even the storage bags look amazingly well made - can't wait to see your photos.

Lucky, lucky Slub [big grin]

whilst I'm absolutely delighted for you Slubber, I, er, don't get it. Confused

Why the excitement? Smile

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2014 14:02

It's OK Rooby, I made the mistake of telling colleagues at work, they are all being terribly polite but I know they don't understand.

It's Dutch canvas, for thems that know it's like, er, what the Elves of Middle Earth would camp in, with a pec clench. Grrr

OP posts:
TheFantasticMrsFox · 30/07/2014 15:28

I saw some Dutch people camping in just such a wonder tent at the weekend- it was a thing of beauty and I am actually more than a little jealous. Will wait for erection pictures with anticipation :o
