Campsite in Wales?

Hoping to take the DC camping this summer and DH has fixated on Wales. We're new to this! Any recommendations? The DC are 3 and 11 months - hoping for a playground to keep them occupied.
Any advice appreciated!

We like Trawsidr. Small playground and shop, safe and friendly site and miles of sandy beaches.

Do not, however tempted you may be, go to shell island. It is very pretty, but you will not get any sleep or peace and quiet.

Methyr Farm is lovely - amazing views, check out their website. No play area but lots of space for kids to run around, play footie etc and very close to Harlech beach and castle. Lots to do in the area too.

Have a look on Ukcampsites website. You can search by area and do an advanced search for the type of facilities you want.

There are loads and loads of fab sites in wales but everyone has different ideas of what makes a good site.

We went to Fforest Fields years ago in Powys and it was stunning!

You could walk to the top of the Moutain/hillside behind the campsite and there was a waterfall. There was also an honesty shed which sold bacon/eggs etc.

To be fair, it was August bank holiday weekend, and we pitched last thing at night. When we woke we realised we were in the field next to the shower block. It was really really noisy. I think if we'd have pitched a bit further away it might have been better.

I came on to recommend Fforestfields and see I've been beaten to it . It's my favourite campsite. The facilities are modern and clean, and the scenery is beautiful. There are nice touches like a heated room to dry clothes in, a microwave and free kayak hire. No play area but plenty of space for children to run wild in

On the Gower I've heard good things about Nicholston Farm and Gower Farm but I've never stayed on either as we live in the area.

I'm going to shell island soon; my friend was horrified that the sites I recommended to her have a 10:30 noise limit (pretty standard in my experience). She's been to shell island a few times and loves it. I'm keeping an open mind about it...

The rules say no music after 10:30pm or 11pm can't reemerge which, but people take that to mean they have to play music loudly until that time. Last year a group pitches near us with the radio on really loudly and kept it on all night, they tried to put kids to bed so they could get pissed and unsurprisingly the kids didn't settle. All we heard was the woman shouting GO TO FUCKING SLEEP.

For future reference there's this place nr Caernarfon. We spent two weeks there a couple of years ago.

It was lovely - campfires allowed, nice owners, great views. Ramshackle and relaxed.

nantcol waterfalls is lovely.

Has a stream and waterfalls through the campsite. Although no 'play area' there are rope swings on many of the trees throughout the campsite.

Campfires are allowed :-)

If you're non electric there are pitches along the stream.

Bad bits. You need tokens for the showers and at busy times you have to queue.
The road into the site is very narrow, there can be a lot of reversing involved if someone's coming the other way.

Lovely site , with lovely marked walks straight from it.

Barmouth is the nearest 'big town' with loads to do / supermarkets. ( site is quite remote)

Also close to shell island.....

I've also been to fforest fields - I much prefer Nantcol....
