Camping

more headroom for my tarp shelter

I've got a lidl sunshade and a quechua tarp shelter which was great last time we went camping at providing a but of shade in the heat and some light rain cover as well. The only problem was it was quite low. I'd like to elevate it and think I need to source some taller poles. Has anyone done this or have some strategy for making the tarp more DH friendly. (To be honest, being a shortie I glide right under without a problem :) ) Where does one get taller poles? I think they both come with a set of 2x1.8m

We attach ours to very high tree branches.

Can I get tree branches that fold down to fit in the boot ;)

So, in all seriousness, last few times we've used the tarp as an awning on the bell tent so relying on branches wouldn't work. Also, sadly no trees at the last two campsites. Maybe that is the fundamental thing to change!!!

Burnham Wood!

GoOutdoors have packs of generic spare tent poles - maybe you could extend your tarp poles with those?

I find the guy ropes a complete nuisance around our tarp, which is half the reason I try and attach it to trees.
