'Nappies and charcoal' buying in France question

We will need size 6 nappies- are they readily available and do they cost more/less than here? I was once stung for £16 buying 20 nappies in foreign parts, would rather spend that on wine!

And charcoal- both our sites allow BBQs, but as I know many sites don't is charcoal as readily available as it is here?

Can't help with nappies as we always took our own after hearing horror stories such as yours.
Have never had a problem buying charcoal in France. On sites where BBQs are allowed the site shop has always sold it even if it's not readily available elsewhere :)

All the supermarkets sell charcoal, as do corner shops, it's everywhere in the summer.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting the nappies you need either, but get them in a hypermarket for choice or lidl/aldi for low price.

Charcoal easy to get everywhere.

We ran out of nappies three years ago in France and they cost a small fortune in the local super u supermarket which was otherwise reasonable so took enough the year after!

I'm not sure of the details (DS was out of nappies by the time I heard about them) but when we booked with Eurocamp we were given details of a firm that would deliver all your regular branded nappies, formula, baby food, wipes etc to your campsite (obviously for a cost)
At the time I thought what a great idea it was but as I say never had cause to use it so can't comment on how efficient it actually was :)

My recollection is that hypermarket own brand nappies are quite good value but Pampers and the like can be more expensive. As a generaly point we recently found E. Le Clerc much more expensive than Geant or Champion (I think they were called) even though the E. Le Clerc we found was much more hypermarche-like. Not sure if this was just bad luck on what we were buying (a camping stove to replace ours which went on fire for one thing).

Thanks for the replies, we'll get charcoal over there in that case but take the nappies (even though they are a french brand anyway!).
