Camping at Eweleaze?

Hi

I'm not one for camping, really, but agreed to go this year with friends and kids to Eweleaze. Friend loves it there.

But now I've got ass in gear, I'm reading reviews and they're quite mixed. it sounds very large and busy.

This bit scares me. Is it really rammed? Is it chaotic and very noisy? Is it unclean? Will we have a nightmare getting car in and out?

These worries sound really petty but I just wanted some reassurance!

It is very busy but has lots of space so doesn't really feel cramped.
The track (unless it's changed) is notoriously bad at busy times but there's really not much to be done about that except be patient and practise your reversing skills
Cleanliness was quite good considering the number of people there- not the best I've ever seen but by no means the worst. There didn't seem to be quite enough showers when I went but we used to shower very early so got round that fine.

As previous poster says it can be busy but choose your pitch well and you will be fine. There is tons of space. Last time we went we pitched in East field, we had a decent view of the sea and no one within shouting distance. We have never had a serous problem getting in and out. Just a bit of driving onto grass verge etc, no worse than many places I've been to. Basically we've been twice and enjoyed it both times. Don't worry.

God, we hated Eweleaze - it was like camping at a festival but without the music and all the good things that come with a festival! Rough farm ground, lots of camping in a valley so all the fire smoke lingers - kind of like camping in a shanty town, so try and camp up high. Lots of people on mobile phones saying "Yes, it is fabulous, there are even chickens", generally very noisy and busy. Shop was utter chaos as it was right at the beginning of the season when we went and nothing was set up properly. You have to queue to get down to the beach to go down the steps - kind of like the tube, but to get down to the sea instead. It's a narrow shingle beach and it just gets packed with all the campers. Just not a great camping experience at all.

We had a lovely walk on the coastal path.

No one in our group went back, and we only stayed 3 nights instead of 5. That said, I have another friend who loves it and goes every year with a massive group of friends. (generally there are very large groups camping there)

We love it. Have been the last four years with friends. We are off there this weekend. it is a bit marmitey but kids adore all the space, the hay bales and the animals so worth trying to enjoy it.

Best fields are those furthest out which don't allow cars as they tend to be less crowded. We head for Point Field. You can drop your stuff off and go back to collect it so it is not a case of dragging it from the car park or anything.

Take water shoes for the beach as it is stoney and have fun! Grin
