Camping

I am new to camping.

I went once or twice as a teen, the blokes put the tent up while the "girls" smoked benson and hedges and drank lambruni. I don't think we even ended up using the tent, so I don't know if it even counts as camping ?

I have a friend who is an avid camper, he has a family sized tent that we can borrow, it's big enough for dp me and the Dts -4.

I think we will be able to figure out how to put the tent up, what else do I need to know ?

Where do you keep all the sleeping bags and stuff when you're not in the tent ?

What happens if it rains ?

What sort of thing do you have for breakfast and where do you keep food, milk etc. How do you make tea / coffee ?

How do you cook food safely, I have heard horror stories about co poisoning.

I think I probably need to know more but can't think of anything else at the moment.

Camping seems like something I really want to do, please help me get myself together to do it.

Sleeping bags etc stay in the tent. Stick valuables in the car but everything else will be fine.

If it rains you stay in the tent or head for a pub. Stick waterproofs on or use umbrellas, same as you do anywhere else.

Breakfast is normally a fry up or cereal. Same as at home. Get a gas camping stove to cook on, boil water on etc.

Cooking is the same as at home, but with more basic facilities. Bbq, boil or whatever. Just don't cook inside the tent. Most tents have a porch or awning you can cook under if it rains, or out in the open if dry.
Take lots of wine and chill

Oh, and keep food etc in a cool box. Most sites will re-freeze your ice blocks so just take enough to have some in the box and some freezing. You can get electric hook up and fridges etc but I'd save that until you know you want to do it regularly and have your own tent.

Ah, just notice your reply, thanks for that.
I think we are going to do a weekend away first and take it from there.
