We fancy the Isle of Wight for the last week of the hols... We generally prefer a quieter/smaller campsite but understand this migt not be possible - we haven't camped in a touristy area before.

Where would you recommend? Our boys are 4 and 2 and an appropriate play ground would be our top priority I reckon.

Grange Farm

We stayed in a static here a few years ago so didn't use the facilities for campers, but it has a nice play area and access to a little beach.

We stayed at Grange Farm a couple of years ago. It's lovely. The play areas are good for young children. There are farm animals right by the campsite that the children can stroke and feed. The shower washing facilities are basic but clean. There is a little shop in site where you can order fresh croissants for your breakfast!
On the downside it is really right in the middle of nowhere. Almost all the touristy bits of the island are over the other side so there is a lot of driving to and fro involved. Also the beach that is close by isn't that nice. There isn't much sand and quite a lot of litter. I think this is due to the remote location so it's not managed and cleaned regularly like the more popular beaches at Sandown and Shanklin etc.
We love the Isle of Wight!

Hubby has booked a site called Heathfield Farm. No play area though! Still very excited :-)

I've stayed at Heathfield Farm. I thought it was lovely. There isn't a play area but if I remember correctly there was a football field and plenty of space to run around in. The coast around there is really nice and not too crowded.

We're going on Thursday (for the 3rd time!). Play area is small but there's a great little pool which our kids love, and a large playing field too. It's a great little site - lots of amenities (including a little bar with entertainment some evenings which is all very low key and nothing to be spooked by, and a tiny cafe for when you cba to cook. It's near Ventnor which is lovely.

Thanks Gracie - low key is usually our thing so I'm sure we will enjoy it - looks lovely in the pictures! We will take a ball for the playing field!

I hope you don't mind me butting in on your thread, littlesupersparks (great name!) but we're looking at the IoW too. Some great suggestions here.

So far I like the look of HoneywithLemon's suggestion. Appuldurcombe Gardens looks perfect for us.

Thanks! Smile

Caravan or tent?

Can't beat Cheverton Copse for static caravans.
