Camp Betsival virgin questions - tents and teens

We are going to Camp Bestival for the 1st time.

We have a 7m x 4 m tent. Can it be that there's no hope of getting a pitch big enough? We also have a 3 man and a 2 man pop up, but I would have to buy another 2 man tent - would the 3 small tents be better than 1 big one? would we have to pay extra for that?

Any recommendations for an easy 2/3 man tent if that's the best option?

I just read that it's not good for teens. Our kids are 6, 10, 13 and (almost 15). is it going to be a sulky teen strop disaster?

I am suddenly dreading it. Any tips or words of encouragement?

No idea about the festival, sorry, but I did have a look at it online and it seems that you can reserve a more spacious plot for a charge.

extra space for a fee.

Hi Ernest. We're going to camp bestival for the first time too. Even though I've never been I've done similar festivals before and honestly think you've got nothing to worry about. Our tent is even bigger than yours so our plan is to arrive as soon as it opens and pitch up while there's still a bit of space. Also I've seen that bestival have catered for teens specifically by doing a mini festival within bestival just for them. I think you'll all have a wicked time!

It's fab. we're not going this year due to new baby and I'm jealous. The pre booked pitches are £100 and I suspect they are booked up. If you can get there early on the Thursday and bag a spot you'll be fine, if you are arriving late I'd go with the smaller tents. Our kids were 6 and 3 last year and had a fabulous time, but there were loads of teens there and none of them looked miserable. Book some of the workshops for the older ones and let them go off and do their own thing - it's all v safe and family friendly.

We've been to Camp Bestival twice - it was brilliant! And I second baking, there were hordes of teens around, who all looked like they were having an amazing time. I would have thought it would have been brilliant for them.

If you are not camping plus then just get there early and all should be fine. In fact I am repeating everything baking said. Sorry. I just love CB so much!

Wow, thank you all so much. I looked for replies and hadn't had any so gave up and forgot so just got a lovely surprise :)

Thanks for the reassurance re teens. I read a few threads saying it was going to be rubbish and boring for them and really only geared towards little kids.

It's hot in UK atm as far as I understand. But is it set to continue or is it going to break and be pouring down the entire time?

5gomad - hello. nice to hear from you again. I'm not on mums net so much these days. How's things going?

Is this going to be another Glastonbury, i.e. do I need to go out and buy 5 pairs of wellies?

One last Q esp for the veterans - we have got a ginormous tent. It's 7m by 4m. Apart from the concerns about not fitting (dh insists the group we are going with have bought 1 camping plus pitch too many so we will have this extra room, apparently Hmm (don't want them, people I don't know, to turn around and say as we are using the extra space we can pay another 125 quid or whatever it costs)

But I love my huge tent and am concerned if it rain htf will we dry it/get it back to Germany - arrive home 2 days later. Or do I bring our 20 year old 3 man tent plus our pop up 2 man tent and borrow another tent if possible. Would it be safer/better with the 3 little ones? I think so but dh wants to bring the big one?
