Microfibre towels?

Any recommendations?

Towels for 5 take up so much room, and take a bloody age to dry so I thought I would get some microfibre ones, but don't want to order something from ebay that turns out to be the size of a flannel and as absorbent as a plastic bag!

I have a Giant one from Mountain warehouse which I love: www.mountainwarehouse.com/travel-holiday/travel/accessories/travel-towels/microfibre-travel-towel-giant-p10991.aspx?cl=PURPLE. It is quite fluffy too in the scheme of such things (unless they have changed them since I got my one - the picture looks quite flat). The ones from Decathlon are quite big too, but too much like a chamois for me.

Have you considered hammam towels - fouta I have seen them called? They are actually quite good and dry quickly. They also double up as sarongs.

I actually got some from eBay that were cheap and ok...... dry fast and roll up small. ..

Yes the decathlon ones are horrible. All scaggy on your hands. Shudder!

We use hammam towels (v thin cotton dry quickly)

Thankyou everyone.

I had just put some microfibre towels into my amazon basket, and then saw the thread and googled Hammam towels.

WHY!!!!

Now I have another 'must have' camping accessory!

Well, I bought "some" hamman towels from that amazon link Blush

OMG they are the business! Soooooo pretty and yes, they do work and are ridiculously lightweight. DH asked me why I'd bought a bunch of scarves... Hmm but yes, they dry me wonderfully and unlike microfibre towels, I don't take a ton of dried grass bits away with me in their little fibres when I leave!

I have the same towels as frozen and would highly recommend them. But I'm a practical non-glampy camper and the idea of drying myself with a pretty scarf is a bit alien... :o

Tesco have some microfibre towels on 3 for 2 at £6 each. They are the smooth ones, not the loopy ones that catch on your skin.

Inspired by this thread, I bought a hammam towel from ebay, and used it for the first time today. Fabulous! Huge, but folds to nothing and dries so fast. I was able to wrap myself in it after swimming which made a nice change from trying to dry on one very small towel while chastising child.

Now I want prettier ones Smile

oooh, I already have 'hammam towels' but I thought they were 'beach cloths' which I always use instead of beach towels which I cannot abide, for being too big, heavy, awkward to wash and by the 4th day of the holiday, smelly.

I also have Decathlon microfibre towels which are indeed, a bit shit.

If you know anyone going to turkey this summer get them to bring some back: they are about 3 for £1 in Turkish markets.

This is the problem with MN camping, I was perfectly happy with my decathlon microfibre towels, no complaints here. Then someone mentions a superior product I've never even heard of Grin. Do I need to upgrade?

Excellent Blu, I shall ask MIL to bring some back from their autumn holiday rather than manky turkish delight (which no one likes but they always bring)

Found some bargain ones in Tk Maxx today; Regatta ones (no idea if any good!!), £5 for huge ones and £3 for small ones

We have the decathlon ones and they've been fine, if a bit small. They've had most success as superhero capes for DS but now he's growing out of that I think they need replacing - love the look of those hammam ones. There must be somewhere cheaper than eBay though.

Got mine today too, thought they'd be more flannel-y but I'll reserve judgement until I've tested them out properly.

Does anyone know if they sell them in Greece? My DF is going and she usually buys me something nice Smile
