Ooh, I have red as well but mine is 55l
Actually it was white but turned out to be a dodgy one which the lovely Julia took back and replaced without quibble. DS(10) keeps saying "it was white, I'm sure of it" to which DH and I just look bemused. We have even shown him photos of the old white one, insisting vociferously that it's red in the pictures :o

How many do you have Bramblesinforrin? and how many would you like?(and why? if that's not too many questions).

So sorry to barge in, but is there any chance I could have the free delivery code too? Thanks to lurking on this camping thread for ages, I now have a 5m bell tent and don't think I can survive any longer without an a Icey tek!

Also, does anyone know if you can stand a 4 pinter of milk up in a 40l one?

Report
threeicklepickles · 30/06/2014 22:08

whatwouldaudreydo I know they advise a 40l to stand wine bottles in, I can get a 2ltr milk bottle upright in my 25l one, but I think these milk bottles are shorter than the 4pt ones so not sure these would fit in a 25l box, but would assume they fit in the 40l one.

Will pm you the code.

Oh please please would LOVE a code too - have just watched my dream tent rocket over my max price on ebay, so now have to (not-so-reluctantly) cough up for a new one from Obelink. The few quid off p&p would def help make up the difference, I'm sure!
Am also unable to choose between canary and tangerine, though always find it hard to resist a red accessory of any kind, sigh...

Just seen a review on YouTube (the guy mentions Mumsnet!) with the 25l and it looks very big! Had just made my mind up I was going for a red 40l and now back to indecision....aargghh...how can it be this difficult to chose a coolbox?!

So....me and two kids, one nearly a teenager who doesn't stop eating. Sometimes another adult as well. Weekends mostly, but at least a two weeker every year. Want to do lots of meals to take, as fussy toddler seems to only eat spag bol. And at these prices it has to last for evermore...25 or 40.....help?!!?

I had the same dilemma what and went for the 40l. It is huge. But I like to cook with lots of fresh meat and fish and have plenty of chilled white wine and gin and I don't want to be shopping more than I have to while away, so we definitely fill it.

Another consideration is how heavy it is when full. I really struggle to carry it on my own but hopefully your nearly teenager will be more handy to help than my 8 year old!

I do know people who manage with the 25l but I certainly don't regret my decision.

We are hoping to do 2-3 weeks in France so needed the space for bacon (a fantastic family tradition and sadly one that the French cannot quite fulfil :o) We also cook a lot from scratch so the extra space was worth it :)
The only issue is that it is huge WRT storage and also errs on the side of ridiculous for an afternoons picnic. There's normally DH and I to carry it or at camp I can enlist a couple of scouts but it would definitely be a problem for me on my own.
Will be buying gel packs before we go- I didn't think DH would cope if I added them to the order at the same time :o

Think I'm swaying towards the 40l in red....I'm almost certain I'd prefer it to be too big rather than always wishing I got the bigger one.

Just one more thing - with these cool boxes being so expensive, does anyone worry about them getting stolen? Apart from my bell tent, this will be the most expensive item in my camping kit!

Report
GobblersKnob · 01/07/2014 15:57

I think it's much more likely to be stolen from your house/shed, thefts from tents are vanishingly rare ime, I wouldn't worry.
