So I thought I would start one.

Everyone still happy with theirs?

Pleased with the colour you chose?

I recently decided against mine on a self-catering hol as I couldn't fit it in the car, but it will be brought into full service for camping.

Ours went for its maiden voyage today :o
It's a plain white one, simply because we could not decide what colour to choose so ended up plumping for white. We lugged it to the village green for the "Big Lunch" event and then covered it with a checked tablecloth to use it as a table.
I was absurdly thrilled by it all, and it kept our Pimms icy cold :o

I have matt white.

Classy.

And practical because it should reflect rather than absorb heat.

But I do get a bit wistful over orange.

We were camping this weekend and dh asked me 'what was that cool box you were obsessed with?' And I had completely forgotten about these. I got an electric number from aldi in the end

There you are - that's because there hasn't been an Icey Tek thread for so long!

How is the Aldi electric cooler?

Aldi job is good. Keeps things cool and I have no requirements beyond that

I have just bought one brand new on ebay. I was merely watching it then all of a sudden my break coincided with the end of the auction and I bid and won. My DP pointed out that it cost the same as our tent (except we didn't pay p&p on the tent), they were both bargains though! Hope it is genuine, has anyone ever heard of a counterfeit icey tek?

charm we couldn't decide between red, green or blue. In truth it was more traumatic than buying a new car :o

I just ordered mine last night. I got 40l and now I'm worried that it's too big, too small, too orange! Gah!

Should I have bought a Yeti?

Ours is 55L and it is bloody huge quite roomy :o

It should be here tomorrow. I never thought I could be so excited about a coolbox!

One question. Is the Icey-tek logo on the front a decal? My toddlers are obsessed with peeling stickers off things. Warning labels are a particular favourite. I'm worried about the logo surviving the first outing with my destroyers.

not a decal iirc

meta I decided that I had truly past my youth the day my Icey Tek turned up. Only An Old Person could be so tragically excited about a cold box :o

Unless you can get one on eBay, CoolboxesUK is the only distributor in this country, afaik.

I bloody love my pink 40l one! A bit of girliness wrapping up a fantastic piece of technical kit. Dh was very very cynical and thought I was a twat for spending so much on a cool box. He ate his words on its first outing!

CooboxUK have done MN specific offers for free P&P in the past - there was one over Christmas or NY, I think - always worth asking if it can be extended for MN customers!

I love mine 40l red which was bought for me as a present - best present ever and the most excited I have been about a birthday since I was 9.

However the shine was taken off it when I found out that the present giver was not allowed to pick it up in person, even though they lived very close and had to pay postage for it to travel 4 miles for £12. still makes me annoyed every time I look at my box of loveliness.

I wonder why?

The lady who sells CampFire Grills (which also rack up quite a P&P bill because they are heavy) helpfully offered to meet me at Victoria Station and hand it over, P&P free.

The high p&p in Icey Teks is what has made the MN deals worth using.

They insisted it was all done through the web site so a rather befuddled person who never inputs c/c details online did so as they knew how much I wanted one. I felt awful.
It was a good order too, she added 2 of the ice packs which are not cheap but are excellent.
It rankled as I run a mail order company myself and will do anything to help someone out from personal pick ups, as long as they ignore the state of the houseBlush and such as you describe Charm

Hmm
I am back from a wild camping trip with the Scouts where my lovely shiny Icey Tek was much admired and performed admirably (I am seriously impressed :))

HOWEVER, I went to wash it down as it was a little muddy and the mud has penetrated the plastic. It looks like there are very small holes (microscopically small in fact) in the outer shell and now the mud has got in it will not come out :(

Has anyone else had this problem? Had unrealised then I would have gone for blue/ red/ green, any colour in fact that would not show up the marks so badly. I'm going to contact them later and email photos before I attack it with anything too abrasive but I am quite upset by the defiling if my lovely cold box

I've not had that problem and have been wild camping with it too. Pressure wash?
