Danger and camping

Just returned from our fourth camping trip this year where we were nearly killed by our own car! Some drunking teenager was doing handbrake turns in the field we were staying in at 2am. He lost control reversed into our car and moved our hour six feet to within three inches from where our heads were! It was the scariest thing I've ever encountered. We managed to get out of our bedroom with 3yr old DD safely. We found the car with four drunken teenagers in it who denied it was them despite the huge dent in the back of their car and then proceed to drive again. We managed to stop them and call the police who came really quickly. My big top tip for camping is always stick to the outside of fields and think carefully about where you park your car. It is very likely that ours saved our lives but we now have a bout £1k of work to fix it.

Gosh that must have been so scarey, wasn't there anyone on site to stop this sort of thing from going on?? What complete and utter tw*ts

Security guard went to bed at 1am because it was raining and all as quiet. The site manager refunded all money and confirmed that they have a no group policy but this lot were from one family.

We are still stunned by. The funny thing is that we moved the car to protect the tent a bit from the strong winds, not worth thinking what might have happened if we hadn't.

That sounds horrendous. How scary. Goes to show that unfortunately even the purposely quiet sites can't prevent something like that happening. You poor thing.

Site was in Henley. Which was lovely. Site was really well run, v secure etc just unfortunate that this one family were there and that the parents had gone to bed assuming that their kid wouldn't get into a car drink at 2am!

Can you sue them for the damage to your car and the stress you have suffered???

We have started the insurance process and have been advised that we have legal cover if we wish to pursue it but to be honest I just want to get on with things and try to forget what happened tho I can't stop thinking what if. I still feel a bit panicky (sp?) Hopefully this will pass soon.

Yes, it was that site Tho to be fair the manager was fantastic, he refunded all our money and was very apologetic saying this had never happened before. I guess the moral of the story is just camp on the outside of a field.
