\link{http://www.theplassey.co.uk\absolutely beautiful scenery, well marshalled and lovely clean facilities, free showers with separate wash basins/mirror cubicles.

We've just returned from a two night stay and loved it so much we wanted to stay, but couldn't as the site was full. We have booked to go back there in a week or so for a few days, so that's something to look forward to!

There is a lovely indoor heated swimming pool, that is £1 for one our, a well stocked grocery shop and lots of small craft shops to wander around.

The restaurant on site was quite pricey, but there is a coffee shop with a beautiful lawned area to sit and enjoy the scenery.

There are two places to have an evening drink, The Tree Tops and The Golf Club on site, both weren't too busy and welcomed children with open arms - always a good thing!.

There is also a small garden centre on the park and a golf links too, lots of smaller lakes for fishing or just feeding the ducks, oh... and a lovely nature trail walk too.

All pitches are electric hook up too - so I thought I'd let you all know how lovely it was, so you can try it out for yourselves!

I don't have good memories of Plassey...but maybe we just picked a bad weekend. We went last September...and was expecting good things from reviews and from the website .The main thing was the noise!...although i also think we were on the worst field (the playground one). A huge group of people came with about 5 big tents /gazeebos etc and made a huge encampment (faced in towards each other) and were sooo noisy untill the early hours. The management(to their credit) did go and have a word with them..and they were a bit quieter the second night.
The toilet blocks were really clean
We looked at the shops ...but quite a few were shut. The pool was a really good
I was too tired to even think about what else was on site
Maybe i should give it another go...what sort of pitch did you go for and where were you? I looked at the ones on different fields further away from the main reception area and thought that perhaps they were a better option.

I must admit I too stayed in the main field near the play area, and I think it is just hit and miss who else is there we were lucky I suppose that we were probably the last ones up going to bed at about 12ish, the wardens on the site was fairly strict coming round at 11pm. I do think it is a really nice site however it is a 5 pennant rated premier park with the AA and I'm not sure whether it is worthy of that or not?

yep you are right...you are at the mercy of whoever you pitch next to wherever you go aren't you (regardless of rating). It's just luck really.

Troutpot, sorry you had a miserable time, but I agree it does depend a lot on who you are pitched next to. We were in the far left-hand side field, (that's behind the reception) our pitch was right by the fence, with lovely cows for the children to admire). The views were amazing!

When we went people weren't allowed to pitch their tents on the field where the playarea was as the trees had been deemed unsafe and were being lopped.

We also love Park Foot Caravan Park in Ullswater, Cumbria

We've been looking at that site to!! hahaha we're in Manchester so not to far from you. We were thinking of our next trip to be in derbyshire, so will be really interested to know what you think of it especially because we seem to have the same opinion of the sites we have been to so far, can you recommend any others. We recently went to Golden Square Caravan & Camping Site in Helmsley, Nort Yorks which was good the pitches were lovely. Our next trip is to www.threeriverspark.co.uk

hi janbo, we went to Stourport in Worcestershire earlier in the year to this site:

www.lickhillmanor.co.uk/display.php?showPage=contact

We went before the summer holidays, so it was nice and quiet. There is no shop on site, but there is a spar shop about a 10 minute walk away. It is a David Bellamy Award site and the facilities were excellent, lovely WARM showers that were free. The children's playarea was very good and we'd go back there again, but not in the school holidays. I'll look at those sites you mentioned now.

I'll let you know what Bakewell was like, keep your fingers crossed for us that the sun comes out! x

hi janbo, how are you feeling now?

Glad we didn't go away, it's chucking it down in Bakewell as we speak! Have bought myself a lovely dress for only £15 :O, in Matalan today to cheer myself up! Don't know where we are going next, we are in the process of treating ourselves to a 5 birth caravan, so it depends on when we have the money to fix a tow bar to our people carrier.
