And she's a beauty. I finally got the pole joint fixed yesterday so put her up and she's fantastic. Bloody hot though!

I hadn't got the inner unpacked until yesterday either and its fantastic, no mildew at all.

I can't believe she was only £30!

What Kyham is this then? Sounds like a bargain!
(from nosey interested owner of not-so-vintage Kyham).

Its one of these but the oldest version.

I got it because I thought the joints/pole system would mean it was easy to put up by myself (there's likely to be just me and 2yo dd).

It was a real ebay punt, but its paid off, its the older 4oz poly material which feels very sturdy, and its in lovely condition.

I'm loving the red colour too and trying not to accessorize Blush

It's great Smile. I like the red too, ours (Kyham Harewood with added porch) is pale blue which is a bit boring and lets too much light in so ds wakes up early. We got ours because we had developed an entirely rational irrational hatred for fibreglass shock cord bendy poles, they are the work of the devil.

We've got red and cream readybeds, but you can't have them Grin.

Please? Flowers

I've heard the paler ones are lighter - I must confess I saw someone's criticism of the red being dingy as a real bonus - I'm hoping for dd to sleep fairly well.

My old tent was the shock cord poles and I got on alright with it, but putting this up was a revelation - it goes up on its own footprint where as the bendy pole jobby needed about 3 miles all around to spread the poles out.

I have a red and white table cloth, white table and a red travel rug (no carpet). So I'm getting there!

We had a bigger version of that and it was a fabulous tent. It was the only tent still standing one particularly windy night. I watched many an outwell tumble across the field but we stayed intact.

Its possible as a single handed job but much easier with two as its heavy. Get the top joints clicked into place while its on its knees Grin

Thanks for the tips Jins, and its good to say someone else liked it (and they stay up!).

I am found prowling muttering "knees then on to feet" Grin. I've also marked a star on the central hub at the top showing where the front door is!

Now that is sensible!!! Wish I'd done that. We ended up walking round with it more than once.

Its such a clever design. I think Coleman have copied it now. Grin

Oh and the other thing I'd recommend is going over it with fabsil. It'll be about ready for reproofing

Don't know why we didn't think of that, we always have to turn around to get the door in the right place....
We have however marked the footprint with coloured tape so it's easy to plonk the tent down exactly in the centre.

You don't see that many kyhams around, think we were the only ones on a busy campsite the other week amongst all the Hi-gears etc (loads of them, all the same blue). When we were setting up, quite competently for once with no problems (there wasn't even a breeze to make things awkward) a man came over and offered his assistance. We thanked him to be polite but he only did one joint and then scarpered. Am pretty sure he only came over to sneak a quick peak at how it all worked Wink.
