I was really pleased to see a tiny bit of mildew packing up our old tent today. Perfect excuse for a new tent soon! Has anyone got the Vango Maritsa 700?

Hi, we did, and just got rid of it!
We brought it a couple of years ago as it was by far the sexiest tent in the showroom (my DH is a sucker for these things!) and, for the most part, loved it.
It did us for good length trips both here in the (wet and windy) UK, and in France. Great in bad weather - sturdy as owt, and great in hot weather as you can open up side and front "doors"
BUT - it's a beast! We wanted to go away for the odd long weekend / couple of nights and just couldn't with this one as it was a good 1-2hrs put up time. It was really off putting. So although we loved it once it was up, it was only getting put up once or twice per year Smile.

As our DS is now 10 we've really downsized to something that can go up in 20 mins, have a canopy for if we need shade / shelter and have brought him a little 2 man tent to have alongside our main one (with the family dog for added security).

Hope that's helpful! If you get one, I'm sure you'll love it, but don't expect to use it for short breaks!

ohhh...this is my dream tent - I have been drooling over this one in Go Outdoors for ages, didn't think about the pitching issue!
Glad I read this, can forget about it and stick to my current old faithful!

Glad to be of service Grin
We're now on our fourth tent since having kids 10yrs ago - it's a Samara 400 and seems about right. Hoping not to buy any more till they leave home and I can afford a motorhome!!

Dotty Shock I was ready to put the house on the market and live in that tent! It says 30 mins put up time in the bumph!

Thanks for saving us a lot if hassle though.

We've looked at the Maritsa 700 a few times and it has brilliant space. However, we chose a Vango Lomond 600 this year instead as I could see us struggling to put the Maritsa up. I got talking to some owners of one recently and they confirmed it was a great tent but they really did need the three adults they had to put it up with children helping a bit so do think of that.

The Vango Lomond looks good Tigerblue. Are those external pole-thingies (getting technical here!) more time consuming than fibre-glass internal ones?

I have a Maritsa 700. No idea what you're up to taking 1-2 hours to get it up Dotty - took us an hour the first time now nearer 30 - 45 mins depending on how windy it is. Yes it is huge but the space is to die for. We've taken it for a long weekend but have a pop up for shorter breaks. I'd definitely recommend it!

I agree it really didn't take our friends two hours to put theirs up on our recent trip, they found it very easy, main tent up in 20 mins with two adults
