Just that really! Hoping I can pick up some hints and tips. My DS with be 8 months and DN 15 month. The only thing I'm worried about is where to change them if the floor is muddy and there are no seats and you're not in Kidz Field!?

Nope (sorry!) but I've definitely seen many threads about it in the past. Have you tried the search?

Yup I had a look and sadly most of them are about 80% replies of people going "are you mad!!" Grin. Rather than practical help. I'm sure we will be fine, we go camping a lot, and we have baby transport should it be wet and muddy. Just wondering about the nappies really!

I took my kids when my youngest had just turned 1. I just used to change him in the buggy with the back down as far as it would go.

My ds went at six months and it was fairly easy, you can carry them in a sling or baby carrier. He'll be two and a half this year and I am expecting it to be harder insome wayys as he's a. Potty training and b. much more mobile..but easier in that he's going to enjoy things a bit more.

Kids field is brill, it was much less mudy than the rest of the site two years ago and they have an Nct tent where you can change them.

Last time I took a sling and an old Quinny pushchair but to be honest the pushchair was a pain in the mud. If it's sunny then you might find it easier though there's little shade.

My plan is to do lots of kids stuff, hope for god weather and not expect to see many bands..

I have been several times, once pregnant, once witha small baby and now this year will be with a toddler.

Sorry, realised you asked about where to change them if not kidz field. Not sure really. You could carry a bit of tarpaulin with you and stop anywhere but if it's raining it would be a pain.

We've made a trolley thing which we could have a little shelter attached to it now I think about it, I hadn't considered a tarp - thanks DuelingFanjo in my head it was the slippery water mud I eas enviaging but I bet I could find a more solid piece of land and use the tarp if it came to it.

My niece is coming too, she'll be 15 month so they are sharing the cart/trolley!

I have a trolley too and my niece who will be 17 months is coming :) I am thinking of getting one of the ikea children's bed canopies to go over it. Not sure if we will get out much at night but hope so.

We've gone bit crazy with ours, it has a polystyrene type (like surf board material) roof! I've seen people use hula hoops chopped in half to make kind of ribs and then sew waterproof ish fabric to it, Like heavy duty Cotton etc.

Not long now DuelingFanjo - do you camp in Cockmill? We might even bump into each other Grin.

Could you put a small camping stool in the cart for you to sit on and then change him on your lap? If its tipping down then someone could always hold a brolly over you.

This is what we need in this country for festivals: www.amazon.com/On-The-Edge-900124-Folding/dp/B001QGUFDO/ref=cm_cmu_pg_t?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21. We got a similar one from LIDL but without the canopy. With the canopy, this would be the holy grail.

Another thing you could do is buy a really small pop up tent (kids' one from ELC or similar) and carry it with you for nappy changes. Then at least they will be a bit protected from the elements whilst being changed. Although I guess if you can fix a shelter to your own trolley, you are sorted anyway.

A stool is genius, I think we have a tiny tripod one that could work and my mate can shield me with a brolly if it's really rainy!

Our cart isn't finished but currently looks like this:we may have gone too far!

I'm taking my 2 and a half year old DS to WOMAD festival in July.

First time so no tips but wanted to add in Smile

Have a also been told I'm crazy or had a 'look' off some people...

You don't know until you try though, plus my mum took me AND my brother when we were younger and she was a single parent so I figure if she managed it and enjoyed it, we will!

Good luck.

P.S try reading the festival Kids website. GOLD DUST advice on there.

Thanks TheOrchardKeeper, I will have a look on festival kids and see what I can find. I think it'll be fine, it's just camping in big crowds really with a few crazy people. I think I'd be worried about a toddler wandering off, but even then you could just use a wrist strap to keep them safe. There are 10 of us and 3 children so I'm not worroed - i just like to plan to the nth degree!

Just to add, there should be space on their festival wrist band to write your mobile number on which is handy.

I took pictures of dd each morning so just in case she got separated from us I had a picture of how she looked in what clothes instead of having to wrack my brains to remember what colour tshirt she was in.

We've never taken dd to Glastonbury as that's our time out together, but we went to Beautiful Days last year and she loved it. Take plenty of snacks!

Was just going to add that the cycling trailers are brilliant at glasto, not taken DD but live local enough to hear it clearly :) we see lots of parents wheeling them in, they come with rain/shade covers, gert big wheels, plenty of space for two and lots of kit. Also good to get kit between your pitch and vehicle.

Yes there is an NCT tent and the church tent and another dry firm tent in greenfields, you should find some spots around and about.

Your wagon is awesome!! Grin
Sorry - not even going to Glasto but couldn't help comment - am seriously impressed with the effort put into that!
We've got a few Radio Flyers and they're brilliant - the wheels go through pretty much everything!

Thanks KateShmate, sadly we can't take the credit, Gramps (a retied engineer) made it in about 7 hours! I can't even do a paint by numbers in 7 hours Blush.

My DP is going to finish the paint job on it and then it will look amazing. It should be very helpful if it turns into a mud fest too!

Your wagon is AMAZING! We were in cockmills in 2011 and hoping to get a pitch there this year. My DH is Going up on Tuesday night. And hopefully will be able to pitch for me and for some friends who are coming up on the Thursday. Only worry I have is that we would need to get a pitch near to a track for ease of getting the trolley out.

I've probably left it to late to jazz up my trolley, I'm very jealous of it. If I see maybe i will pluck up the courage to say hi!

Good tip about the photo too.

Oh another tip. Ikea and wilkinsons both sell battery powered fairy lights which I have seen people put all around their carts so people can see them coming at night and know they have a kid cart which I guess means people are more aware of them and more careful.

Forgot to mention that DF - we got some 5 quid ones from a local shop as I've read on a few forums that it seems to stop people walking into it accidentally at night & divert drunk people around the buggy instead of through it Smile

We've got a month left til the fest we're going to and I'm at the stage where I just want to go now ! So excited for DS to see it.

Enjoy!!

Write your mobile number on their arm is advice given.

My dd lagged behind me and I turned around and couldn't see her - heart in mouth time, but then about six people shouted to me and pointed to where shr was. People will look out for you!

Have an awesome time
