Are we mad to be planning a 2-week UK camping holiday in August? We camped a lot before DD was born last year, so we have all the equipment, and have bought a whopping tent so plenty of room, even if the monsoon comes! Anything we need to be aware of / think about when camping with a little one?

Baby is likely to wake up as soon as gets light so could be lots of very early mornings

Keep baby tied down in car seat until tent is up.

A travel cot doubles up as a playpen.

Hadn't thought about the light thing Blush - you can get blackout things for travel cots can't you? Thank for the other replies!

Yup. V early wakings. We did it (a jet) with child 1 and had a great time, just planned for it. Its much much harder work than a normal camping trip as you have to be hypervigilant at all times -there's no sitting just drinking a glass of wine with no cares in the world. That said we did it at least 6 times one year! It can be fab.

Now I have my second one that ages we're not considering it until she's a bit older!
