Hi

Soo I'm calorie counting. I can't cut the carbs totally as unfortunately I relapse due to hunger.

So what is the best if the bunch calorie wise?

Is it rice/brown rice

Is there a calorie difference between pasta and fresh pasta, which is less calories. Is brown pasta less calories?

Or what about egg noodles are they low calorie??

Confused.com

Thanks in advance!

There's not a big calorie INR carb difference between brine and white rice, and egg noodles are not low carb or calorie.

How are you counting calories? If you still want to eat pasta noodles and rice, your best bet is to reduce the amount you eat.

I'm trying to have 1200 calories a day. With my evening meal having a portion of noodles which come in at 250 calories. But I was wondering if fresh pasta or rice would be less calories than dry pasta.

I've just been having chicken breasts with the noodles and so far it's been good. Also I've been adding in some of Lloyd Grossmans Tom and basil sauce. Mmm

Sorry for the typos in previous post....

250 cals is reasonable as part of a main meal! No, fresh versus dried wont give much difference on the calorie front.

You COULD try those miracle/ zero/ naked noodles, which are made from konjac root. You can get them in Holland and Barret. But they're expensive, and many people find them slimy or rubbery.

The calories in different types of pasta are the same and that goes for rice too. Yes try those calorie free things but if you can't get used to them try brown rice and pasta instead. It may have the same calorie count but is better for you because of the fibre content. I had the same problem as you with losing weight and low carbing and I experimted with which carbs I could eat and still lose weight. In the end I found my weight loss was very slow even if I ate small portions of bread, rice pasta and cereal but for some reason I could still eat potato. And I found I only needed a few so an evening meal was any meat or fish with veg and Or salad and 4 new potatoes on the side.

I would sack off rice, pasta etc and maybe try some quinoa.

I get really confused about the difference in calories between dry and fresh pasta too….. I love my carbs and 'save up' calories so I can have a nice big bowl of pasta now and then. But if you look at the calories for - say - 200g of dry pasta - surely that absorbs more water than fresh pasta. So - 200g of fresh pasta must be slightly less calorific than 200g of dry pasta, no???

I think brown rice and brown pasta are better as they keep you full for longer

I wouldn't bother with that slim pasta / Konjac stuff it's unimaginably vile Confused
