here

I have to say that having read some more of the facts in this case I think the verdict is the correct one.

Is this behaviour in school caused by teachers lack of ability to chastise? Or maybe because children are more anti-social than previously? Perhaps the breakdown in family units could be a contributing factor towards children lashing out and showing disrespect? Are there teachers who really detest children that pupils react negatively to? Is there any other reason not mentioned that could cause kids to treat adults in this way in an organised "sting".

I personally know a teacher who refers to his pupils as "little bastards" each time he talks about them and it makes me so mad but at the same time he works in a school with a seriously bad reputation that has been put on special measures twice due to the high level of violence and teacher/pupil abuse dished out by some pupils. He also comes from another country and says he cannot believe that lack of control and respect in schools exhibited by pupils.

I think it is fair to say our education system is in a bad way.

I doubt anyone who really detested children would become a teacher.

As for the children, if you get one charismtic manipulative child, he or she can lead a whole class into targetting a weakened or stressed teacher.

I don't think any school will ever employ this teacher again so he's being punished through loss of income/pension.

Can one child really have that much power/control over a whole class kathy? Seriously?

Yes, definitely. You've only got to look at bullying patterns and how gangs form. One person is seen as cool. Children are desparate to belong so they'll join up with the cool one, or at the very least, not challenge them, and then the cool one has a disagreement with someone, or a teacher challenges their authority.

If that authority is all they have, of course they'll fight back and use their "gang" to best effect
