Im a concerned mother with a special needs son. I also have a few other friends with special need.

There was an incident at my son's school a few weeks back where the head teacher lost the plot totally and grabbed one of my friends special children by the scruff of the neck in doing so she she left marks on the child.

This child is now very fearfull of her and will not settle at night saying he is scared which i feel has tromatised him.

I have also heard (with my own ears)this Head Teacher shout at pupil (aging from 4 to 11)from behind closed doors. surely to god she must realise that shouting at a child like this will leave him or her with not only serious behavioural, learning, emotional or even a mental disorders. All of which affect the child's chances of developing into a healthy, well-adjusted adult.

These issus have been taken to higher people but with very little done to repremand her can any one advice me on what to do next

it seems in my experience that abusers seek jobs within SEN schools in order so they can carry on abusing its only if they have been leagally convicted that it would come up on a check.

all you can do is put a complaint in with the school govenerors who will probably do nothing as the head will only deny it anyway or the other option remove your child from that school, which probably is not the answer either as i know this would not be easy, contact the lea and ask to change school placment on statement.

even if she went to the police as we did as the child has SEN they are unlikely to prosecute due to your child not being a good witness. CHILD ABUSERS nearly always get away with it the laws in this country do not protect them!

you have been helpfull, just someone to read or listen is better than nothing and i am greatfull for that.

we are currently looking at other schools that can cope with there needs as special needs children.
But have also seeking help form a legal sauce.
I just fear for what could happen to my son as he is special needs, has also has ADHD, has not sense of fear and has already escaped from the school but hes the only child i can have through health reason.

my ds absconded from school again yeesterday is autistic and IVf baby so know where you are comming from i am also trying to move his school at the moment also i have told the school he wont be comming back until they can come up with a written statagies to cope with him properly it was only two weeks ago the ran out of school before. managed to get social services to do a home assessment this week she was here when i got the call from the school. Could you try them or his case worker at the lea? remember you know your child best and dont let them fob you off have you tried childrens legal services they may be able to help. if your child is escaping from school they are not meeting his needs and this could be the route to go down with the lea, my case worker was not impressed when i told her it had happened again!
