Bullying

Name calling

My dd sometimes has difficulties with another classmate. This girl calls her names, though sometimes claims to be a friend. Today, when dd was moving to a table to be shared with this girl and others, the girl said "Don't you dare sit there, poop!" This made dd really upset and she didn't really know what to do, so went and took a different seat.

I know this is mild in bullying terms, but I just wanted to ask for ideas in how to manage it, as it's not the first time. I'm not much good with these situations either . I've suggested a) she asks why not and b) sits there anyway.

What else do you think she should do?

i think she should either ignore it, or say very loudly "please don't call me names" and go ahead and do what she was doing anyway.

if it continues and she is being upset by it then i would tell her to let the teacher know that the other girl is being unkind
